In my opinion most of the players we have are up to the challenge of this league and yes we have a couple that are finding it a struggle but Jay is giving everybody the opportunity to show they can cope. Admittedly some have been given longer than others, Jay May the former, DD/Vas the latter but with a dozen or so games in I'm happy enough. We have a couple of wins and some think we'll win the league, a couple of defeats and we are relegation fodder. Wake up and smell the coffee people, we're doing ok given the old 'look where we were 5 years ago' quote. I do wonder if the biggest moaners are the newer fans who are used to us being up there challenging whereas the people who've been following for a while are more than happy at how far we've come. Yes, Saturday was a poor performance by too many players, some games you can carry one, or two at best it's tough at this level when more than that are not having a good day. The ref was poor but we cannot blame it all on him, it was a penalty in my opinion and on another day we would've been in with a better chance but their keeper made some great saves. I for one believe in Jay, Nicky and the others around them, and I know they value our support massively so lets keep the fight going.

Jay is very sensible in staying. If he went to Orient now and things didn't work out, he'd be out of a job by the end of the season and probably heading back to non-league football, who knows where. He is absolutely right to wait and keep earning his experience at Stones. Every time we go up it's a learning curve for Jay as much as it is for the players. To suddenly be put in a football league club where you have to try and start switching the squad round without a strong knowledge of the FL, the players who are around at that level and what standard you need, would be silly. I am sure he is flattered that his achievements have been spotted by the likes of Redknapp, he certainly deserves that recognition and I am quite certain opportunities higher up the ladder will come his way in the future. Let's hope those opportunities come with him at our club! I totally agree with what you say, he can gain more experience with us and eventually move on up, and good luck to him. I just heard the interview with Harry and he doesn't actually say he has spotted Jays achievements, he was given information by a black cab driver on how good Jay has been. For the time being, I sincerely hope he stays and then gets the move he deserves, which I believe will be bigger and better than Orient.

In the fast moving merry-go-round of football sadly nobody gets time and I think Jay will have to act before we hit the skids and certain individuals start screaming "Saunders out". In reality none of the players mentioned are bad players but they are now expected to perform week in and week out and they just aren't. A couple may have time to improve but in my opinion Ben has not really given enough to warrant his latest stint at the club and may well end up at somewhere like ....erm Hastings? I agree, the others need to up their game, and quick!!

I just hope the heat doesn't take too much out of the players tonight, I think all of them will have done a days work before turning out tonight. Several tough games and long journeys will have an effect. I'm going 2-1 Stones with BJT and a very sweaty Alexandre Flisheur scoring. School night so I think 2176 in attendance.

Now I know we have supporters on here from way back to the present day, old and new, fair weather fans and fans that will go everywhere in all weathers etc. etc. etc but if you could have any player from any era in todays team, who would you have? Even if you have only been a supporter for a short time your comments are as welcome as everyones. My choice would be Mark Gall. Extremely quick with great shooting power. Watched him from the stand at London Road as a youngster with my dad.
Who's your choice?

I really enjoyed it, yes there was a lot missing but to be honest with our history a 3 or 4 hour programme would not be enough. Some nice interviews too.

Let's be honest, everybody is still adapting to the step up. Some will take longer than others. Again, I don't think every single player is up to the fitness level either and once again some will tale longer than others. Even Jay is having to adapt. Everybody has opinions on the players, I for one admit that DD still hasn't done enough for me but with only half a dozen games gone we have to give the boys a bit of time. Aside from Forest Green I think we have more than held our own against some tough teams and as the season progresses I am sure Jay will do what he needs to do, as he always has. I have seen many comments from the players about how good our support is, home and away, please keep it that way. The players are working hard, I watch them train after my team on a Thursday and I can see how much effort they are putting in. Consolidation in this league for this season would please me, I think that would be a huge achievement. Glass half full for me.

Fantastic effort from everyone involved from start to finish, fans, club, media etc. so thank you all. I was at the game on Saturday, unusually on my own, my 12 year old son is always with me but ironically he left to go to scout camp on Saturday morning. Huge lump in my throat in the 12th minute and a reminder that they can be taken away too soon. RIP Charlie

ban tall people !! i can't see a bloody thing sometimes !! I agree Jimmy, anybody that stands above 5ft 8 should be made to have a seat. I can't help being a short-arse. Actually I did used to smoke which probably stunted my growth so I must agree with this thread.........I think........actually, what was the thread about originally??

Just spoke to a Gills mate and his opinion wasn't great. Never quite made it into the Gills first team apparently mainly due to his lifestyle, despite a few warnings from Hess and was therefore loaned out quite a bit. Hopefully Jay will keep him on a tight leash but don't expect miracles on the pitch. Just to reiterate, this opinion was from a bitter blue and any references may not be true, unless they do appear true as the season unfolds and I will then say I told you so.

I definitely think BJT will have league clubs looking at him if he continues where he left off. He'll also have been noticed because of the play-off final display. Paxman will also generate some interest and if clubs send people to look at them they will obviously cast their eye over others. Sweeney will also be another after being picked for England C. The jury is still out for me with regards DD, one minute I see flashes of brilliance and then some basic errors, just my opinion before I get a kicking for that comment. I think all of them need a season at this level to see how they cope.

Let's hope he starts in the same manner as he finished last season. He had a great last few games but in my opinion he lacked something earlier in the campaign. Brilliant news he is total class in four positions. And at only 21 he will only improve if he is playing regular he was on fire over the final six weeks because and like many young players he thrives on being appreciated. I totally agree. The more he plays the better he looks.
