Definitely a talented player but I'm not keen. Thinks he's Ronaldo, doesn't want to pass, doesn't do much off the ball and I think the team would look more cohesive with Paxman higher up and two more defensive midfielders behind him. Thoughts on this?

Thoughts on this? I think you're right. Playing three in midfield against FGR was the right decision but Murphy should have been on from the start to give more width & better balance to the front three. Ben should be a sub in games like this. Sweeney was having to cover a huge area on the right & not surprisingly got skinned for their second goal.

Not a forward and not good enough for the Conference National.

Bens worm rate and tracking is better than sweeneys so if anything 443 with Ben If we had gone usual 442 and lost we'd all be moaning her doesn't experiment

And who is this "moaning her"? Sounds intriguing.

Can't fault his effort, but we've had him twice before and he's never really cut the mustard for me, but Jay keeps bringing him back. He's been very hit and miss so far this season. Not convinced, yet anyway.

Think Ben is a talented player. His best position is just behind the centre forward. I think he was asked to do a slightly different role yesterday and that didn't suit his style of play. If the system against certain teams needs changing and doesn't include his best position then don't play him otherwise he is wrongly made the scapegoat.

Ben is likely to one of the players under Jay's microscope over the next few weeks He has still something to prove to me but no doubt Jay will give plenty more chances But our manager won't be altogether happy with his attacking options at present Particularly with Flish having to perform in a role that is probably asking too much of him If Jay is able to secure his new striker signing soon (rumours persist) I think it's more likely that DD rather than Ben could find himself at risk

In my opinion, which doesn't mean much, but vas, Ben and Sweeney are not good enough for this league. Why sign someone 3 times, surly if he was good enough in the first place they wouldn't have got rid of him . Paxman is a good midfielder but needs to shoot more near goal.

Not a forward and not good enough for the Conference National. PMH has shown himself to be a pr*** on a few football issues. It's not worth giving his opinion on the Stones any credit. He hasn't got a clue what he's talking about.

He hasn't got a clue what he's talking about. Tell you what I'll save this thread for his departure...when hes being put up for sale or loaned out, which won't be that long ,if we are to survive in the league we will need a lot more than he actually does if we're to compete in this league and challange for a playoff spot we will need a lot more quality and consistency than he has as others have said he's been with the club before in lower leagues and didn't look that great . If you think he's great good for you. personally I think he's not good enough ,I'll be surprised if he's around till the end of the season ....I'll we stay up he won't be around next season . like may and vas he's not good enough .

When I see posts like this I genuinely don't know if I've been watching the same games. Ben was comfortably one of our better players against York, Braintree and Chester and I had a Tranmere fan comment on how he and BJT looked a cut above everyone else in our squad. He looks a totally changed player from when he's been here before - work rate is infinitely higher and he's making passes none of our other players would see (except maybe Pax). Case in point would be the assist for the first goal vs Braintree.
I'm sure he's too much of a fancy dan for some of our knuckle draggers but then you need something to moan about I suppose.
