www.maidstoneunited.co.uk/2016/07/change-to-smoking-policy-at-the-gallagher/There has been a change to the club’s smoking policy ahead of the 2016/17 season. While the Gallagher Stadium has always been a non-smoking venue, a number of areas (Gates B & D and the Vice Presidents entrance) were made available to smokers before the game and at half-time. These areas will now only be available up until 15 minutes before kick-off. After that time all the gates will be secured, including during half time, and there will be no readmission. Club chief executive Bill Williams said: “We will continue to provide a smoking area in the run-up to kick off. Then, for a couple of hours, it will not be possible to smoke anywhere on the site until full time. “I hope supporters will understand and respect this decision which has been made for operational reasons.” Supporters are reminded that e-cigarettes are also not permitted anywhere inside the ground.

All that will happen is smokers will smoke in the toilets.
Heck i already seen people doing just that when they only have to wait 45 minutes.

I can't understand people not being able to go a couple of hours without smoking , I find it just as irritating when you go out for a meal and half the restaurant empties itself because the need to have a fag !!. If every smoking fans gave up a packet of cigarettes and gave the price it cost to buy one to the fund to help with the cost of the ground improvement , it would be very well appreciated by the club !!. C'MON YOU STONES

How much are a packet of cigarettes? About £8? If you assume a chain smoker would get through half a pack at the football, that's £8 quid saved over 2 matches, and even if you factor in the rise in ticket prices you'd still save a quid each match. The two combined means you're effectively already swapping half a pack for helping the club, and saving money at the same time.

Not to mention the savings / benefit to their own health too !! ;-) Also in line with the afore mentioned restaurant theme, @@@@ing irritating too if you want to eat outside on a summers evening only for some inconsiderate waste of oxygen to spark up at the table next to you ..... I suspect I'm probably not alone on this one.

What I am unclear about is the fact that the entrances "will be secured 15 minutes before kick off". Does that mean that if a VP arrives at 2.50pm they won't get in? Or was that referring to only smokers?

I'm gona raid mcdonalds for 254 straws, sleeve them all together making two pipes, wedge the fag in one and exhale in the other, pop them over the fence and stand on the far wing of the townend. Why I haven't thought of this before I don't know. Ducking genius I am.

For anyone just passing the Gallagher Stadium on the riverside on a match day please be aware that, if you are caught short, the Stones have invested in a new toilet. Just remove the fag from the McDonalds straw, aim well and tiddle hard into the straw.

Now I hope smoking will be banned from England . But what would you tax instead to make up the revenue shortfall? Macdonalds' straws perhaps? Oooh, what about chewing gum, that's another anti social habit!

Well, a few of us like a fag before after and during- I'm happy with the clubs decision and ill survive to chucking out time- so the holler-than-thou lot can't shut the f up.
I don't drink- I believe far more harm is done by drink related issues- but thats my choice as i had to give it up- but don't expect others to.
At least with fags Im only doing myself an injustice and i don't smoke where kids are or non-smokers...
ill wait till we are so successful they ban booze from the ground- won't upset me, but my kids will be pissed off....
