Scan70001.pdf (860.74 KB) Not sure if anybody is remotely interested but I'll put it on anyway. My wife was sorting through some things in the loft and came across the Gazette from Dec 19th 1978 because apparently she was in a nativity picture. Sod that I thought, more importantly I was at that game with my dad. She wasn't impressed.

I too echo the sentiments about the lack of atmosphere in the main stand but even with that would we have played any better last night? I think not. I did partake in a seat some time early in the season and when I stood up as we attacked I was asked to sit down, never again. It's fine, let them frown on the Town End antics while they sit and moan and don't offer much in the way of support vocally. Hell, they might even spill their Bovril if they get too excited. CUP HALF FULL. Well, firstly- If you stand up, the people behind you cant see?
Secondly- Its bad enough with kids constantly running/pushing past us 4 - I wouldn't mid the occasional 'excuse me please'- but Im whingeing and showing my age/upbringing. My two eldest have very vocal outbursts, sometimes downright moderated agricultural- but they realise afterwards there are kids around. It doesn't stop them voicing an opinion and joining if with Senna generally supporting the team with words of encouragement :-)
So there are pros an cons about the Main Stand-but you do get a seat and are expected to use it thus.
I would just like to add that when the 'standing' incident happened I was in the back row, just in front of the back railings and it was a gentleman in front that asked me to sit down. Secondly, did I mention 'kids' pushing past and not saying excuse me, did I mention language either in front of 'kids' or not? I agree some behaviour is not acceptable but as you say we are all prone to vocal outbursts, and sometimes in the heat of excitement someone may rise from their seat, is that so wrong? If it is every few seconds then yes but when we are 2-1 down and attacking in the last five minutes. It's football, excitement, and sometimes it may bring us to our feet.

Once again with a night of sleep behind me things are not quite as raw as they were last night. Yes, I do believe the occasion got to a number of our players and many did not play to their ability but lets be honest, we are in a position that many would love to be in, challenging for National League football in such a short space of time. Last night I was fuming at our lack of desire and fight but are we asking too much at times? It's been a long tough season for a bunch of players that in the main have to go and do a day job as well. The bottom line is we can still get promoted, we are still in with a massive shout, let's get behind the boys no matter what and at the end of the season if we get promoted we will forget this game pretty quickly. If we don't get promotion this season we need to strengthen and push on next year.

To be honest you can't go far wrong with any of them. My favourite is Tandoor Mahalclosely followed by Mughal. The last 2 times I've been to the Shamrat have been a little disappointing. Bottom line, choose one from a hat, as good a choice as any.

Without going too deep into the laws of the game etc. please tell me the things that annoy you in a general game of football.
The thing that really bugs me, and yes this may only be me, is when players deliberately 'shepherd' the ball out for a throw or goal kick, making absolutely no attempt to play the ball while clearly holding off an opponent. Is this not obstruction? If a player blatantly steps across the path with no intention of playing the ball anywhere on the pitch obstruction is given, why not when he is making no attempt to play the ball but stops his opponent from doing so?
Sorry if this is just me................
Anything else that bugs ya?

I would definitely go Jamie Coyle, consistently good this season. Worgan is still up there as the best keeper at this level but pipped at this stage of the season by Coyle.

Recently while sorting out some bits n bobs in the loft I came across my old football rattle and after a few moments of flailing around like an idiot, as well as scaring the dog, cat, wife, children and probably neighbours, I wondered why nobody used these magical items anymore. Imagine my disbelief when one of my chums told me that they are now classed as an offensive weapon and are banned from football grounds the world over. Is this true?? Surely not. My son is hoping they are banned as he was absolutely mortified when I suggested The Town End might be an appropriate place to blow the dust off it.

Without digging up a load of 'why's and if's' I for one would have liked yesterdays announcement to come today and Steve Watt have the chance to come and have a proper send off from the fans. I think that's the least he deserves. I would've loved him to have a 10 minute cameo at the end of tonights game, I think the 'with immediate effect' departure is tough on him and the fans. Oh well, as they say, life goes on. I'm afraid if this was an end of season rubber match. Then that senario would be great. But we are in the thick of the season, and subbing in a centre back for 10 mins at the seems a little crazy. Unfortunately this isn't the time or place for sentimentality. And I think the professional that Watt is would agree with this. I agree tjh, I just said I would've loved him to have a 10 minute cameo, I made no mention of a crazy 10 minute substitution. A wish rather than a reality.

People say we're lacking a finisher....but just what was there for them to finish yesterday? They were very few crosses of any standard, and we weren't getting the ball in to the box, or indeed any dangerous positions - so you can't blame the front 2 for that. Paxman is without doubt our most creative midfielder but the majority of his time on the ball was in our own half where he isn't going to cause them problems. Paxman has been superb for sure and I agree totally. I wasn't blaming the front 2 for the lack of finishing, it was evident through the team, first half it seemed nobody wanted to take a chance and have a pop and the second half as I say we had the shots but none on target. We do have finishers in the team and though some are not exactly on a rich run of form, we have goals in us but yesterday we just fell a little short.

As I see it, and only my humble opinion from behind The Town End goal, both red cards correct, no arguments there. The linesman got it right, Alex Akrofi was marginally offside and from just about every angle I have seen it looks like Frannie got a touch so no issue there. The stats tell the story, I think we had around 14 or 15 shots in the second half, most of them when Yeovil were down to 9 men, and not one was on target. Hard to stomach but we lacked a clinical finisher yesterday but it's not all doom and gloom, as the old cliche says we can now concentrate on the league and put Ebbsfleet under pressure. And maybe, just maybe, some of the 'fans' that had their first trip to The Gallagher yesterday might want to sample the delights on a wet Tuesday night in December or January. On second thoughts.......

I don't see any reason for Dartford to resort to the Plebsfleet tactics. Surely they don't feel the need to segregate. Let's hope.
