Having settled down from the shock of this, two moments to remember Watty by:
1) AFC Hornchurch ( Away ) - 2013 / 14
Not even playing or a sub for this, but coaching from the bench. We normally get nothing at Hornchurch, and this game was no exception. Towards the end, Carl Rook, the 'combative' striker comes on for the Urchins and delivered what appeared to be an outrageous stamp on the shins of an MUFC midfielder. A daft thing to do, but especially so as it was right in front of the benches ( and where 'porky' was sitting ). Outrage on the MUFC bench - Watty sprung to his feet and delivered some particularly severe Scott's language towards Rook. Also, I think he went out on the pitch and stood over the prone MUFC player, like a highlander guarding a wounded colleague in battle. A truly defining moment.
2) Thamesmead ( Away ) - 2015 / 16
In his last competitive game for MUFC, Watty acted as a guardian to younger Stones defenders. In particular, advising a Thamesmead player that if he wanted to kick somebody, he should choose Watty rather than being a coward and picking on a youngster - typical of his approach to serving this club.
I'm sure Watty doesn't read the tripe on this board, but on the off chance that you do Steve, I'd like to thank you as an ordinary supporter. To me, you join the long list of Stone's Centre Backs who have dragged this club up the pyramid - Paul 'Mad Dog' Foley, Peter ' noisy **** ' Hawkins etc. etc.

Based on some of the previous comments made in his Watt's Happening? column, I suspect he is one of the players who does have a peek on here. He'll always be a Stone Lege. If he comes back to play us with another club someday I reckon there will still be a few "Stevie Watt, Watt Watt's" coming from the town end.

Without digging up a load of 'why's and if's' I for one would have liked yesterdays announcement to come today and Steve Watt have the chance to come and have a proper send off from the fans. I think that's the least he deserves. I would've loved him to have a 10 minute cameo at the end of tonights game, I think the 'with immediate effect' departure is tough on him and the fans. Oh well, as they say, life goes on.

Cracking effort this, in particular: 42.30 - respect for big noise & big crowds 43.45 - respect for 'shakey' 54.46 - 12 to 13 clubs chasing him ( RPL & NSouth ).
