seems like a new centre back signing is 100% cert to be announced tomorrow Jay has been looking at quality players from higher leagues than the National but my money is still on Josh and Magnus pairing up together on Saturday I think Magnus is/has been injured so at best he might get a place on the bench.

I have to say it was and will continue to be an issue as we progress. 'Bigger' clubs will come looking, exactly the same as Jay has been doing to clubs below us. No difference at all, we will cherry-pick players from teams below and around us as will the league clubs above us, that's football. As for comments like, the fans have a right to know what he has been sold for, why?? It's none of the fans business what players are sold for or what they earn, that's the clubs business. We just want the players we have to get results on the pitch. Yes, I hope we got a decent fee for him but exactly what that fee is makes no odds to me at all.
Good luck Kev, every player deserves the right to move up, and thanks for all your efforts.

Bit of a coincidence that both Frannie and Matt have a job where their circumstances changed at the same time. Also at a time when a few of their old playing mates are signing for Margate. Call me a cynic but me thinks there are some ickle white lies being offered here.
Funny also that Matt is keeping his head down, wise choice.

If we'd been relegated...........I could've enjoyed a beer while watching The Stones rather than the underside of a stand. But you know what? I wouldn't bloody change it. This season we will have better players, better facilities already payed for so hopefully some money in the coffers for Jay when he needs it. The future's bright, seriously, we have owners that are running the club well, we are making very steady progress to say the least. Enjoy it.

Sadly, I think the main theme of this thread is the 'used to' drink in this pub or that pub. Not many people pop out to their local now for a couple in the evening or on a Sunday lunchtime. Times have changed. I miss The Blue Door, or whatever it was called after that, but did spend much of my hard earned wages in The White Horse at Otham which was always a tad more upmarket than the Blue Door, The One and Only and The Century.

I was surprised how many couldn't keep their feet last night, slipping all over the place. It wasn't wet like Sutton do with theirs either. Was impressed with Lewis and Prestedge but a couple of others looked rusty for sure. The teams around us did us no favours so we got to concentrate on our own games and dig deep. Shame a few idiots had too many Haribos and got silly, absolutely no need for it.
Onwards and hopefully upwards.......

A great point well made, and no mention of 'bruv, fam, innit' or any other terms that yoofs speak today, good on yer (oops). Seriously though, I stand every home game towards the bar side of the town end and there are many young men of your age and the majority of them will have a genuine conversation about the club and football generally. We all know who the idiots are, and I would say that most of them are somewhat older than 15. Everyone should be made welcome, it's groups like yours that help us get the attendances that we get and the point you make about it being a large cost to you shows your commitment, well done.

Tough times for Jay, he needed to get younger players in to play in every position. He's worked hard to do that but we do need that 'old' head at the back. Credit to the younger guys but it's a tough league and we don't have the guy at the back bossing things. Steve Watt did exactly that for us, he attacked everything and organised the defence. Worgs has enough to do without having to shape them too. Let's keep behind the team, it's gonna be a tough run in but we can do our bit.

In my opinion it has been on the cards for Ben for a while now, he just never quite did enough for me. He was never going to be a game-changer. I think Jack has done pretty well, always did a job (even if he did look like he had just come straight to a game from the pub), but he needs regular football and I guess wouldn't want to be a squad player. The same with Callum, I think he has the ability but we have other options now.
Jay knows he has a fight this season and good luck to all involved. Roll ya sleeves up and get at 'em.

I agree, standing in the yellow hatched area is doing something wrong, a point which the stewards are very keen to point out to a couple of 8 or 9 year olds but seem reluctant to do when someone anywhere near there own size does it.

We are well and truly at the point many of us thought would come. We/Jay had to wait and see who would perform at this level and I think he has given everyone a fair chance, with the exception possibly of Vas. I so wished Sweeney would be up to it, I genuinely like the lad but he makes too many errors and never quite looks up to the pace. Murphy and Greenhouse also look way short of where we need to be. Hats off to Jack Evans, I for one wondered why we signed him and even though he does look like a Sunday league footballer that's been on the p!ss the night before, he has been much better than I expected. Many of our bookings have been for downright petulance and eventual suspensions have caught up with us. I said at the beginning of the season, survival would satisfy me this year, we all knew it was a big step but I hope we'll dig deep and stay where we need to be. Must just mention Flish, has looked up for the challenge and gives 100% every single week, I hope he can continue to carry one or two of the others until we get replacements.
