From the comfort of survival it is easy to forget how easily things could have gone the other way. Life would have been a lot different now.
Northfleet fans would have been insufferable.
Dartford and Welling would have been the local derbies.
PMH admirers would have been screaming for Saunder's head.
Others would have been saying how lucky we were for one season in the NL.
More ambitious players would leave and/or not sign.
No trying to persuade other players to go (nearly) full time.
Kent League reminiscing would reach record heights.
Bognor, Hungerford and Poole instead of Leyton, Tranmere and Torquay.
Lower attendances and prices? Less segregation.
A whole summer of arguing on the message boa...oh wait. No difference there.

The club said that they were going full time whether we stayed up or not so that one would be no different.

Persuading players to go full time in the NL would attract a very different calibre than the NLS.

You can only sign kids full time in the Conf south. We found that out to our cost. Better signing part timeers of higher quality.

If we'd been relegated...........I could've enjoyed a beer while watching The Stones rather than the underside of a stand. But you know what? I wouldn't bloody change it. This season we will have better players, better facilities already payed for so hopefully some money in the coffers for Jay when he needs it. The future's bright, seriously, we have owners that are running the club well, we are making very steady progress to say the least. Enjoy it.

doubt I fancy if any of the players Jay has signed would be with us now just hope there's enough in the coffers to capture Jamar Loza be good if Ant is correct with his hunch car park talk is still positive but is this wishful thinking ?

handyandy is one of our Ebbsfleet friends. I actually like rapport amongst rival fans. If it's without nastiness, some good chats can be had - especially close season when rivallry calms down. I am a pensioner, been following Fleet for 50 years so I know a bit about watching crap foogball and a poor team! It's good to get a different perspective on things.

Agree 100%. Message boards can bring out the worst in people, but real fans in real life mix and chat all the time.
Without looking it up, G & N have been up and down several times over the decades. Still trying to work out what Maidstone's natural level is, but if relegation did come it wouldn't be the end of the world. But obviously this league is preferable to the one below. A lot of hard work has gone into getting to and staying at this level.

Until the Doctor came along, I reckon Conference south was probably out level, bimbling along on gates of 1000, making a yearly loss, and dependant on a good cup run every so often. I have no idea what our level is now - I will be happy mid table this year, but the owner and vice chairman aspire to Football league. They are building a stadium that is self financing, and produces good income. Dr Humaidi doesn't do loss making or wasting money, he is a sharply focussed and shrewd business man. Which is why he has made around £15 billion before he was 30. He seems to have the midas touch with building profitable high rises, stadiums, shopping malls, new housing estates and now theme parks. Which means he is staying in Kent for the long haul. Fleet hopefully will be the main beneficiaries, but success breeds success, standards rise to keep pace with rivals, and who can say in say, 5 years, we wont have 4 Kent teams in the football league.

Not really sure that's achievable. You, Dartford, Dover and us are already eating into Gills' support, and if we all keep improving they may well struggle financially, especially as Scally doesn't like making a loss so may reduce the playing budget accordingly.

That's fine then - three Kent teams in the EFL.
