We desperately need one and they are available. Josh Gowling at Grimsby made available for loan (ex Bournemouth, Gills, Lincoln) and would improve us at the back considerably. 33 years old, played 300 games at National League and above and was part of a team promoted from our division last year.
A bit outside our normal area but lived down here previously, exactly the kind of player we need. Could we pull someone in from further afield if we're struggling closer to home. Twumasi and Loza from Norwich and Peterborough so worth extending the net again as I fear we wont stay up without defensive reinforcements.

I was shocked how very quite our back four really are we are desperate for that vocal leader in our back four. I don't believe you can coach a player to be vocal and to organise others so we do need someone to come in for that on pitch organisation. Individually I rate our four defender's but as a unit our back four we are seriously struggling at this level.

Not really surprised by our predicament, shipped second highest amount of goals.
Ideally need two commanding CBs who can bully the oppo and bring back some control to the defence. What we have isn't working currently so without changing it, more of the same.

Achempong could of done better with that clearance for the corner that lead to the second goal. Lokko is just inexperienced and the least vocal of the two. Probably should of brought someone in when it started going wrong around October.

to be fair Ach and Lokko both started the season well enough and looked an improvement on last season
but our goals against column doesn't lie we have seen both of these players make far too many mistakes over much of the season
poor marking, poor tackling and poor positioning
Coyle has played ok but doesn't look quite strong enough or commanding at National League level
so I think Jay maybe looking for 2 centre back signings, at least one of them with plenty of maturity and experience
Lokko looks the classier and more promising of our current younger cb pairing so worth keeping, but the bell must be tolling for Ach - shame but too many mistakes and just lacking something at this level imo

Tough times for Jay, he needed to get younger players in to play in every position. He's worked hard to do that but we do need that 'old' head at the back. Credit to the younger guys but it's a tough league and we don't have the guy at the back bossing things. Steve Watt did exactly that for us, he attacked everything and organised the defence. Worgs has enough to do without having to shape them too. Let's keep behind the team, it's gonna be a tough run in but we can do our bit.

Question is we got ach from national south team and lokko from a team that finished bottom of the national. So were they ever going to be rock solid at the back?? I guess it came down to budget.

I see that Piggott scored at Wembley for Southend (once in open play, once in the penalty shootout).
Triv question then - has anyone else ever played for Maidstone and scored at Wembley? Sadler Selly Smalling the only likely ones I can think of.

A tad ironic that JS got rid of Manny Parry thinking he was not good enough at this level yet he,s doing ok for Braintree funny how things turn out.

Slightly different trivia question: can you name three players who played for Gillingham, Cambridge and both incarnations of Maidstone (pre- and post 1992)?

Put him alongside Lokko and thinks will improve immeasurably.
