Some of you may have seen in the news this week the sad death of 12 year old Charlie Girling while on Scout camp in Finland. Charlie was a keen football player and supporter of the Stones having attended quite a few games last season. He was really looking forward to the new season, on behalf of fellow Maidstone United supporters I would like to pass on sincere condolences to family and friends. Times like these certainly put football into perspective.

The club don't need to arrange this, this should be done by the supporters, similar to what they do at Newcastle to remember the 2 supporters killed in the air crash over the Ukraine

Leeds do it in the 11th minute of the closest game to the anniversary of Gary Speed's death each year. In fact at the first home game after his passing they got a chant going on the 11th minute and kept it going for eleven minutes! Get a letter off to the KM to get it put into the paper, ask the club to put a short statement about a 12th minute fan-led tribute on the website. It just takes a good handful of people to get it started on the day, those who have read about it will join in.

Firstly this is a tragic loss and personally it hurts all the more when it is a child, with so much life taken away. I think an applause in the 12rh minute is a good idea; the club should announce the intention before the game so both sets of fans are aware and then if enough of is stand up and clap we should get everyone up?

I will email the KM now telling them of our intention to do a remebrance applause on the 6th August in the 12th min. Also ask the club to put something up on the website to endorse the idea.

I have spoken to the lady who wrote today,s article in the KM about this sad story, she,s very keen to support the idea of a tribute during the match against York, I have put her in touch with the club to sort out some details regarding a reporter etc etc on the day, also spoke to the club they seem keen to put something up on the website to support the idea, also they mentioned about putting up a plaque in honour of the young lad, let,s hope we as fan,s manage to pull this tribute off.

Yea, this should be done by the fans, club don't need to do anything really, it wont be hard to organise at all... Agreed. Will the Scoreboard be up by then? I can't remember when it was supposed to be ready but a giant screen with the time on would obviously be handy so we all know when we're in the 12th minute of the game... It's not beyond reason that one of us could post on the York board and ask them to clap as well. No chanting and everyone standing would be a nice touch too.
