George is a passionate guy but those qualities need to be aimed at the players not at the supporters.
And yes I am still a George fan but saddened by this turn of events.

I've nearly always made the effort to stay behind and clap the team after a good effort from the players.
Tuesday was not one of those occasions and I left the stadium after 90 minutes feeling a bit deflated.
Tbh it pisses me off reading that the manager says I'm not a real supporter when I've followed the club a lot longer than he has or any player in the squad.

Talk about shooting yourself in the foot.
3 matches in and all the talk is about a rift between the manager and supporters.
There was a zero rift before this statement from George, he is popular and rightly so.
Such a pity !

I wasn't there last night due to work commitments but it looks like George has made a bad situation worse. Shocking really this early into the season. 3 games in and it's now a case of fans vs manager when in reality, he should have accepted that it's been 3 less than inspiring performances on the bounce, held his hands up said it hasn't been good enough. Calling out fans seems... odd? I hope we suddenly burst into life this weekend because I like George, but this all seems very ominous this early on. It really wasn’t a bad situation to start with

Dover's owner was forever having a go at the fans for not supporting the team 'properly'. So we can see how well that approach goes... More about them not coming at all than not clapping the team off

Completely out of order George, I was here long before him and will be long after he’s gone so I don’t appreciate having that thrown our way !

Tbh I thought Tuesday was quite normal, not bad and not good. The Genco supporters don't ever get carried away with a slightly below par and disappointing performance. Failing to score a goal or even looking like it, doesn't get the pulse racing. Leaving at the end of the match or even near the end is quite normal for plenty of supporters. No need for George to get angry with people like me that's been around for a long, long time.

I pay for my admission ticket and it down to me whether I stay at the end of the match to applaud the team, or join 100's of others vacating the stadium.
My choice !

Hard to believe what I read.
3 games in and George is piling into the supporters.
Heart over head probably.
Maybe to deflect from the team performance, maybe just over-emotional, but needs to be careful who he targets.
Supporters are human too and thinking we will all applaud and appreciate the team's efforts no matter what.
Well it not going to happen.
That doesn't make us bad people.
Do I still support George ?
Absolutely,100%. He's a great bloke.
Let's move on.

When we got to watch footy, we hope to be entertained. 0-0 draws can be entertaining, exciting even, but only if both sides are having a go or one them is defending like it's the Alamo. Is the result more important than the performance? Depends on the need, I guess, but at this time of the season, if you want to get folk through the gates, then there needs to be a reason for them to come. 1500 or so will do that, come what may, but the rest are more choosy, depending on opposition, other commitments, or indeed current form. George has no right to expect folk to give their support regardless. A bad performance always has consequences - on and off the pitch. He makes changes when things don't go well and so do the fans. As I posted earlier, there is a trend in football to play it like Southgate - not just the England team, but lots of others too, at all levels. Coaches need to wake up to the fact that it is not fun and ultimately boring to watch. There are plenty of alternative ways to spend £20 on a Saturday afternoon, so if George (and indeed many other coaches) want fans' respect, then they should know what to do about it.

Whatever, comments like this does not exactly strengthen the bond between players and supporters. Never felt it was a 'privilege' that players clapped the fans. George says it is something he can give or take away. Tbh pretty much every club at all levels show some appreciation. Not sure why Stones should be any different.

George has released a statement which basically says his comments were said 'in the heat of the moment'. He didn't mean to offend anybody and is 'sorry'. That's more than good enough for me. Thanks George and let's move on.
