Like most I am disappointed with the results and performances of the last two home games. However, imho, it is far too early to write any of the new signings or the season as a whole off just yet.
Temi Eweka and Ben Brookes both look good signings to me. Alexis looks OK to me, we were never going to get another Covolan (who was always too good for Nat S imo). Higgs and Seaman are proven at this level and in Seaman's case higher but obviously we need them fit. Krasniqi had a good season with Aveley last season and looks decent to me.
For me our main problems at the moment are going forward. Blair scored 20 goals in this league last season and has looked good in flashes but is firing blanks at the moment, hopefully he can get his confidence up with some goals soon. Likewise with Coulthirst and Andrade who the jury is still out on for me. I agree with someone else on this thread who said our current forwards may benefit from playing alongside a taller target man but is there any cash left in the budget ?
You never know as the forwards get more used to each other and grow in confidence we may start creating more chances and start scoring a few. If however we get deep into September and we are still only creating one or two chances per game like last night then it will be the time to PANIC!

One or two genuine goalscoring chances?
It’s not complicated.
Get the ball in the box with three or four big lumps charging forward.
It’ll come good in the end.

One thing that hasn't changed since last season is the team's ability to build on positives. We got a result away in game one, but then lost at home in front of a decent crowd. 2100 turn up last night and a dull 0-0 is served up. Expect the gate to be lower next time. Or if we win well away on Saturday, expect to be disappointed against WSM. At the start of last season there were loads of away games because of the new police cabin. We did reasonably well, but when home games did start, there was rarely any consistency, especially in terms of entertainment, to bring more fans in and boost attendances - and therefore income. Not sure George gets that last bit. Football is a fickle mistress, with no certainty of success or entertainment, but we still go whenever we can - up to a point anyway. Gate crashing the FA Cup was wonderful, but we need to start seeing decent performances at home, in the league. Our problem there is that most teams, apart from Dorking, come here to frustrate. They park the bus, hope for a breakaway and then park the bus some more. It is a simple template that works well for visitors, especially as they know we are prone to errors. Fact is, it has been like this for years, while 'home advantage' for whatever reason, also seems to make referees favour the away team. As far as I can see, the only way to break that chain is to attack more. A lot more - and playing like England did under Southgate is not the answer. Get wide, play with pace and encourage players to run at the opposition, because this what creates space for others. It is not rocket science and, as Sword says, you don't need a computer to do it either. By the way George, it is good to watch as well.

What struck me was that our attacking system against Truro ( passing the ball from side to side on the edge of the penalty area but without ever getting a shot away) was repeated last night. If it didn’t work on Saturday, wouldn’t you expect some change in tactics to be tried?

If it didn’t work on Saturday, wouldn’t you expect some change in tactics to be tried? It was rubbish everytime we tried it last season, and been the same so far this season. Only difference last season was we had Amantchi and Faal who could hold the ball up. The forwards we have this season are not going to hold the ball up because they are not physically up to it. If these are the tactics George wants to play , he has recruited absolutely awfully. When I saw we had signed mostly shorter quick players I was expecting a team to keep the ball on the floor, move it around at pace and see some attractive football. Bit nope, its the same shit, Its all wrong and it won't change. Will I waste more money down the Gallagher? Each performance like that makes it more likely a No!

Match 3 including one narrow defeat by a disputed goal and thinking about giving up on the club ? Now't so fickle as 'supporters' from Grove Green. Agree there has been no buzz or excitement, instead we see a well drilled team with good defensive attributes and apparently not much attacking intent. Some signs of combination and joined up play last night moving forward, but nothing that will worry defenders too much. Work in progress for sure and George has got his work cut out in sharpening up our attacking intent. I'm pretty sure that the team will gell better as the games progress and the coaching staff will be well focused. Does seem a bit groundhogish when compared to last season and that went well enough in the end. Some supporters comments do the over negative tirades well enough but need to be patient for a while longer yet. 100% sure George is working on it and will get it right, sooner rather than later.

In the after match interview George was happy with what he saw.Now that is worrying. Early days yes! 1.33 pts per game should bring us in around 12th in the table and I'm not sure the fans will be happy with that. I think we could get seriously tonked by someone soon , possibly boring Wood away .

Positives:
A lot, lot better than Saturday, although the bar is pretty low. The team competed the whole game, while on Saturday they were pretty poor for most of it and over run some of it.
GK less erratic in decision making.
Brookes, Eweka and Benton look good players and potentially an upgrade on last year. I thought that Krasniqi looked quite good too and was surprised to see he didn't start.
Negatives:
Never looked like scoring. Obviously, will miss Amatchi and Faal but the biggest miss is Rush - scored goals, worked hard and gave defenders problems all the time.
Seems like a long list of injury problems given the season has just started?

I agree with the sentiment on this one and it is where I am at. Expectations are high as always. One thing I will pick up is “and that went well enough in the end”….is comfortably playoffs and staying down what we are happy with at a minimum?

I suspect that you could be looking at a rather different team by 10 games in - George doesn't hang around when things aren't working. And they definitely aren’t working right now. Being mid table NLS due to our budget restrictions is one thing but playing dull football will turn crowds away quickly. Needs to change now - ten games in of this and crowds will go below 2000 and may take a while to go up again. So my hits and misses may not have been so negative after all! Maybe the team saw your extremely negative and miserable hit and miss post and it made them all feel negative and unmotivated...so... it's all your fault, it's all your fault, it's all your fauuulllt!! 🤫🤫🫣🫣

Aaron Blair scored 20 goals for Braintree last season, so our tactics are clearly the problem. You could argue he could have had one or two. We shouldn’t be playing him out wide. He’s not a winger. Get him in the middle with Shaq and the goals will come.

It’s a bizarre thing to say. He must be feeling the pressure. I lll ignore it as it’s isn’t worth my time. Foolish
