At the moment, I cannot see us getting any more points before the end of the season - at least not without teams having an absolute mare against us. 14 games left, needing to avoid conceding another 30 goals to make it to 100 doesn't seem likely either.

Only have the highlights to go on, but one shot on target the whole match? What happened to the attacking flair we showed at Eastleigh? At the moment, it seems we set up in league matches not to concede, which suggests we are only looking for a draw. I like George a lot, but every time I think about him as our 'permanent' manager, I wonder about his ambition in the league. There is a little evidence of clearing the decks for next season, but no evidence of actually wanting to win league matches. This is going to kill attendance figures for the rest of our home games because who wants to pay £20 plus in the hope of a safe draw (which we know ain't going to happen anyway). Please can we at least go down fighting now?

Didn't follow the game as busy elsewhere. Just as well it seems. When I started this thread, I was hopeful we would build on the cup game, but it seems the players aren't that interested in staying up - perhaps because they know they aren't good enough and aren't interested in the NL for next season. Getting hard to find reasons to attend these home games we have coming up, when you know there is little chance of leaving happy.

Once again, George speaks really well - this time on the Friday interview, with nice tributes to Hady and Christy, plus his assessments of Jobe BBC and our new winger, who sounds like he e could be just what is needed at the moment. Really hoping we can do well be at Oldham, to back up the win at Eastleigh.

A big thank you to B&Q this morning for sorting out an overpayment I made for fencing yesterday. My fault, not theirs and it was over £100. Good things do sometimes come from Gillingham!

In a season even... but well done him, as long as it is not against us.

I suppose it is arguable that Deacon and Galvin are midfielders. In many ways, sorry to see Pattison go, because he's been one of our few subs who generally make an impact. However, we have way too many players and with short term loans seemingly easy to come by, you just have to wonder at our recruitment this season. It would be interesting to know how much money, per games played, some of these players have cost. Hopefully, by showing faith in Luque and Browne, they will come back well, but (so far at least), other long term injury problems like Wanju-Smith, Cawley and so on aren't setting the world alight, while the likes of Booty, Deacon, Galvin and Barham might be entitled to feel under valued in the grander scheme of things.

A real test for Stones in Saturday. Nothing to do with six point games and the like, while we need to win three or four on the bounce to stir up any hope of avoiding relegation. What interests me more is whether our performance at Eastleigh can translate into something more positive in the league. George has clearly been working on corners, while having Alabi alongside Barham up front seems to give us more of a goal threat. However, it is attitudes that matter as much on Saturday. It was a classic, dull 0-0 at home, with Oldham every bit as ordinary as us. George has been working on players' confidence as well as strategy, so will it all come together and get us a win, or will players go back into their shells again? Cross everything and let's hope that the travelling faithful are rewarded for a second game in a row.

Woking staked their credentials with a 2-2 draw at Wrexham tonight, while Eastleigh bounced back with a win at D&R and Barnet lost 4-1 at Notts. Nothing changes for us though.
