At least we gave it a go, but undone by two soft goals and one screamer. A missed penalty, a missed sitter from JBW, Deacon hitting post, plus several other chances. Could have, should have won. Wanju-Smith has to start on Saturday, instead of Alabi.

And Booty misses his first penalty to complete the misery.

Crap defending, again. 1-3 100 goals here we come.

Bollocks. Could have, should have been 3-1 up, but an absolute screamer gives Eastleigh the lead out of absolutely nothing.

That's more like it. Well done Jack.

At least the picture has improved, though our final ball has not. Attendance given as 1463 and as that includes all season ticket holders, suspect the real figure is not much more than an a thousand.

Well that was coming I'm afraid. Eastleigh have gradually come into the game and/or Stones have faded. We don't clear our lines and it's a soft goal. Alabi seems to be playing centre forward and Barham is on the right wing. Alabi looks very ineffective and for all our effort, it currently looks like another loss. Shake them up George.

And there we go, the lense has a clean, but to no effect. The view of both penalty areas is terrible, because of the glare.

Bright start, but am afraid that the floodlights are not helping the TV streaming as it looks like we are playing in fog. The camera needs a hood to limit the glare - or a lense clean, or both.

If was me as the owner or chief exec (Terry, Oliver, Bill), then I would expect the manager to consult with me over any recruitment, mainly so the latter knew they did not have a blank cheque. Am guessing Bill retains extensive knowledge of players, so would hope that any major managerial expenses have a degree of scrutiny.

Whichever way you look at it - and am probably being generous here - we have probably had reasonable use of about 15 players this season. The rest have been plagued by injury or just not good enough. Over the summer, we were told that various players weren't signed because we couldn't afford them, but clear now that, had we signed 3-5 quality players, with decent track and fitness levels in the NL, then that would have been money well spent, instead of wasting it on 15+ players who have contributed little or nothing. Looking ahead, because there is little left for this season, we may well have a core of players capable of doing well enough in the NLS, so a sensible clear out is now required. If/when we get back to the NL, we really must learn from by our serial recruitment errors in this league, when only in the end of season 1/start of season two did we actually get things right.

I think attendance predictions look a tad optimistic!

For me, the sheer number of players we have had screams poor management. Regarding George's post match statement, I'm not sure the players really 'left everything out there' though. Good shot for their opener, but to me, we went to sleep on the free kick. Look how many players just watched the ball fly past and then notice how Oldham defenders threw themselves in front of our (pitifully few) shots. George is very loyal to his players and I like that, but I think he needs to be more honest about how we play. He doesn't need to name names, like Hak did, but I've yet to hear him say we gave anything but our best and clearly that cannot be true, given our on going record. Likewise picking the side, where we have seen strange line ups, not least all the wingers on Saturday. I like George - always have - but what we see and hear coming out of the club doesn't make sense at times. If we don't win in the league soon, then I think it will be time for the club to come clean and say what the approach will be for the test of the season. If that is "we know we are down, but George is in charge with the authority to plan and experiment for next season", that is fine by me, but simply bumbling on, however hard players might try just seems like a waste of time at the moment. Just what do those in charge think Maidstone need to do now - and just be open and honest with those who pay to attend.

So, what are our chances? Win 4-0 away, but this is the league and Eastleigh will want the points more than us now. You'd hope we'd be playing for pride if nothing else now and also if they want people to come in numbers for our remaining home games. Really wouldn't be surprised if we lost again, I'm afraid, but would be SO happy to be proved wrong. The season is long dead, but that doesn't mean we can't piss on a few parades along the way. COYS - please.
