Ah this one going around again. daveu has told us time and time again it's impossible to have the town end for away fans, so why argue with him he is always right. The view I had from the town end yesterday showed our fans near the barrier watching the away fans more than the match itself. Harley Earle is too short as well

Harley Earle is too short as well I haven’t said it’s impossible, I have merely pointed out that it’s inconceivable that the owners haven’t looked into it. Obviously you believe they either don’t have the nous to check it out or are choosing to ignore it.

How about putting some sort of fencing that went to the roof, between supporters at that end would certainly stop items being thrown and stop fans trying to get over that sheet in the middle. Wouldn't be a good viewing point but would go some way to stopping the issue. Brings back memories of the dark days of football. European teams have clear plastic between supporters. There has to be a solution.

There has to be a solution. I was thinking that option as well but maybe with fine netting, certainly could be used as a temporary solution. Doesn't necessarily need to come down the whole length of the Genco, maybe only a 1/3 so a reasonable view could be maintained from further down or further along the top. This would also help push the away supporters further away from the home support. The bottom 2/3's still could be policed by stewards. The other option could be to put a narrow band of seats in from the top to the bottom, say 6, next to the no go area. this would make it more difficult for the away supporters to attempt to get at the home supporters although I appreciate the seats could be used as missiles if things turned really nasty. From memory, I think Eastleigh have a large stand behind one of the goals which houses both home and away supporters- I wonder if they have the same issues.

We largely live in a reactive society. Speed cameras and lower speed limits only get put on roads after someone is killed. Health and safety regulations are developed as a result of someone getting hurt because they did something stupid, and/or someone else got careless. The simple fact is that building the Genco to take both home and away supporters alongside each other was flawed from the outset because the tribal nature of football means there will always be an element who wants to take it to extremes. The human animal is fundamentally still territorial and happy to start a fight with it's neighbour, which is why we still have wars, violent crimes etc. There are some things that should not be left to chance and the Genco is one of them. The club either spends increasing amounts of money on police, stewarding and fines, or it invests in a long term solution. Arguably, they now have the money to do that. Move the portable buildings behind the Genco to under the Town End and securely fence or wall off a route for away support to use the turnstiles by the riverside to access the Town End. Add seating for away fans along the Town End half of the riverside, along with a couple more turnstiles in that area. Similarly, add a couple of new turnstiles at the Genco End, so it is just for home fans so we have access along the opposite of the ground to away fans. Create an empty, neutral area under the new gantry and scoreboard, with just the team 'dug outs' in that space to ensure opposing supporters can't get near each other during a game. The club cannot control what goes on outside the ground, but has a responsibility to all fans to ensure we are safe inside it. Doing nothing should not be an option.

Shared Stands are always problematic unless they are all seated.

2000 fans wouldn’t be using the north turnstile, as has been said many times. Season ticket holders would use 8 and 9, which is often not even open. We would continue to use 3 4 5 6, then walk past the main stand, exactly as we do every single game when there’s no segregation. Visiting fans would use 1 and 2. There would be a barrier at one end of the Town End and behind beyond the toilets and some seats along the riverside. Away fans would use the existing exits in that corner. The disused roadway behind the current away end would become a new exit. The pie hut would move to the other end. You can say you don’t like it, but you can’t say it can’t be done. View Attachment You do what you are suggesting and it will result in our home fanbase only being allocated 1250-1350 tickets for home games, 750 in the Manchett and 500-600 in the Genco. You can only have 500-600 exit through turnstiles 8-9 due to health and safety going up the stairs, then the 750 seated in the Manchett would exit through the gates by the 3-6 turnstiles, this would be all that would be permitted in due to the exits that are available to those areas. We had 3100 people in attendance for the Yeovil game, 252 from Yeovil, that means that 2850 there for Maidstone if they changed the set up as you keep suggesting then 1500 fans would not be allowed in. Yes the current set up is far from ideal, but until we get the full finances to do the riverside and then the Town End then it is something that will stay as is. One thing that should be looked at is the security and placement of the stewards and police. I've not complained about the stewarding at the ground anywhere near as much as the youth have as i had not seem any issues, however after the Yeovil game on Saturday i have to say i am appalled at the conduct at the person who was wearing the chief steward jacket, if that really is John Harvey and he really is the safety officer of the club then the club should be f**king ashamed and embarrassed by his actions. I had refrained from posting on here or on facebook for a couple of days after the game to calm down and not let the anger/frustrations take over, but looking on the club website today to see who to contact to lodge an official complaint with and seeing this person is the Safety Officer is beyond a joke.

As has been mentioned, there is an abandoned road sloping up behind the stand that would be easy to make into an exit. Cost £5000 for a new gate? Probably safer than those steep steps and maybe should be done anyway.

John Harvey should have been sacked weeks ago for being totally incompetent but he is currently one of the in crowd who has no respect for anyone other than himself and is another reason why my name is Mudd at the club. I didn't realise Star Protection were still our preferred security choice I would rather employ the women's institute than that shower of shit at least I could buya pot of jam after the game.
