Yeah I'd be surprised if Amantchi is still here at the end of January. Hes only 22 so a league club will likely take a gamble on him at the 30-40k he will likely cost. I was explaining to Mrs Headstone today how most strikers seem to have a purple patch eg Levi this season, and then they move on and can’t hit a barn door. But usually the boot is on the other foot, and Maidstone sign the player in form who immediately loses it. Frannie Collin was an exception, Jake Robinson wasn’t. We used to call it the Pedro Knight syndrome. Adam Birchall and Billy Bricknell were two more who hardly set the world alight for us. Having said that Bricknell did score the winner against Margate that virtually guaranteed us the Ryman Premier title.

He retired this season rather than get relegated at the Hamlet.

Is he on a one-year contract until the summer? If he is then maybe we should offer him a longer term deal to at least reap a transfer fee from any potential suitors. And if no-one is prepared to pay-up we get to keep him! Win-win all round I say.

Pure speculation. Nobody knows whether anyone’s even interested in him yet you talk as if it’s a done deal.

Sure its speculation BUT Levi ticks so many boxes, you can be 100% sure that NL and League clubs are keeping tabs on him. Another few goals between now and Christmas and I think Levi will be catching a taxi.

daveu may not want to believe it, but reading George's comments in Kent Online, the reality is different. No way is Levi going to be with the club beyond the next few weeks. Get used to the idea.

He’s contracted to at least the end of the season so any club who wants him before then will have to pay a fee, and I’d expect us to make it substantial. You don’t let your leading scorer go mid-season for peanuts.

I’ve just read the article and while accepting that there will be interest, George also seems confident the Levi will stay with us. Also there’s no mention of any specific interest as yet. You may accuse me of not wanting to accept the truth but all I see is a massive reinterpretation of an article in Kent Online.

It's a difficult situation ,would we rather keep Levi and try for promotion or do we cash in on him with a fee that will or should pay gor at least half of the new 3G pitch next season? If we are going to cash in on him then I would hope George will stop saying things like " I took him off because he was knackered" this immediately alerts any buyer that he may be unfit and drive the price down. In my opinion if good money is offered then we should take it as there is no guarantee that he will keep scoring at this rate all season and no guarantee that he will remain injury free.

If we are entertaining the idea of selling him then I guess the recruitment committee are on the look out for his replacement. It makes too much sense to sell Levi for a good fee. It wont please the Ash Out Crowd. It would also not be fair to hold Levi back if a NL club are in for him.
Having said all of this, I don't remember last years top scorers in the NLS moving mid-season. I know Ebbsfleet were going to keep Poleon as they were already up by Christmas but no others really moved. I think people might be worried for no reason.

The fact is (as with all these cases) that, if the player wants to go, he will go.
So, the question is - does Amantchi want to go? (Or what will his agent tell him to do?)
If I were him (or his agent), I would stay with us, at least for this season, and maybe next, if we go up. He's happy here, and it's an excellent place for him to develop into the player we think he can be - a much better environment than in an EFL club, with all the expectations and pressures.
And, on a more cynical (ie realistic) note, if he stays for the season, he's a free agent at the end of it.
But, looked at in that way, we actually need to sell him asap! He's going to go, anyway, so we might as well make as much as we can from that.
In the meantime, we badly need to get a few other players scoring goals!!
