and Phil McCavity...
If anyone thinks I've got the nothing better to do than to create yet aother sodding game thread, well they're wrong!
But, as we're here - if ever there was an opporunity to bounce back from Saturday and give someone a good stufing, this surely is it?
But... well, we all know the 'but'...
In George we trust.
Because, basically, there's f**k all else we can do.

Consensus on the Dover forum is a 2 goal margin of victory for Maidstone.
Looks like they’ve filled a coach, so maybe 150 with independent travellers?
Have I mentioned I hate Kent derbies? Hate everything about them.

Hate everything about them. I've never really seen the attraction of them, either. It's always struck me as strange that, in the world of non-league football, where we are friendly with most away fans, a few clubs should be regarded as 'the enemy', just because they are geographically close. Although, having said all that, I strongly dislike Dover, and am looking forward to them contining their downward trajectory and never bothering us again!

I disagree. In the Beazer Homes League days, they were quite the progressive club with Maidstonesque attendances. Their chairmen kept them punching above their weight as the National League morphed into its current grotesque iteration. But sooner or later, when being subsidised, the money runs out. They are in danger of going the way of Histon; still in existence, but at a ludicrously low level with a Football League ground.

Don't forget Loch Jaw and Ben Doon. As long as Douvres don't have the combination of crosser and centre forward that Hampton had, we should be ok. Suspect they will try the same as Eastbourne and park the bus - in which case, a couple of early goals from us would definitely help after Saturday.

Last time we beat Dover in the league was in Feb 2007 - played 8 times since - drawn 3 and lost 5. Would really like to stuff them 5.-0 to put one over their chairman and his past antics. Can't see it happening though -and after Saturdays result would be happy for a narrow win and a clean sheet.

A group of supporters raised money for the club by doing a sponsored walk from Maidstone to Dover. It was also the first time I met NWS outside of this forum. We won 4-2 the last being a Simon Austin penalty from one of the most outrageous dives you’ll ever see.

Segregated game.
Anyone want to guess how many Dover fans are going to bother on a Tuesday night in November, for a game they expect to lose?

Not quite that bad - their current home average is 698. But, if you take out one strange game (HHT - why?!) when they got 1,675, the average is only 600.

A wins a win. We were pretty bad tonight. Not much intensity. Having said that Dover looked a very poor side. It wouldn’t have surprised me to see them get an equaliser though.
Dover are in big trouble. A couple of decent players but what was their plan? Good turnout from their fans to watch that team.
As for us, we got over the line just about but you would say that’s just in the strength of the team assembled rather than playing well.
I generally like to see the Kent sides do well so it’ll be sad to see them drop but it looks inevitable. Another lesson in why having an owner artificially propping up a side is no long term plan.

We were crap - very lucky to get the one we did. And lucky that Dover didn't accidentally equalise.
And it would have been accidentally - they weren't just bad, they were like a Sunday league side. And yet it could so easily have been 1-1. That's how rubbish we were. Even Amantchi couldn't score!
And, yeah, yeah, I know he did score (thank god), but he twice had an open goal and managed to f**k up.
We have a squad of talented players, but can't seem to turn them into a talented team.
I fear we're going to get stuffed by Dartford, as well as Barrow.

When a loose ball falls to Levi near the box, it’s only going one place. Not sure how we are going to raise our game for Barrow. If Dover had been any been even slightly better they might have got something from their aimless balls up front. Glad for three points after walking home dejected so often last season. Am I being ungrateful?
