Yeah, but it all worked out nicely in the end. Not sure why on the day we get to the 3rd round of the FA Cup you bumped a post from back in March, but fair enough. I said I would give George a chance to prove me wrong, and I'm happy he has, so no complaints from me.....I havent even posted anything moaning about Elokobi as manager since the summer, so why you're trying to get a reaction when everyone should be happy I don't know. Lets be honest, a lot of people quite rightly struggled to warm to George being appointed full time with his appalling match record and many quite rightly were sceptical of this season when his recruitment of average players didnt really impress. Also, until St Albans and Barrow we werent producing much quality football which was meagre NLS fair and really we were only in the top five due to Levis goalhanging and the miraculous last minute recruitment of Lucas. Levis wondergoal versus St Albans and Bivesh's perfect strike against Barrow, could be the signs that actually George is a miracle worker who has learned his management trade quickly on a sparse budget and is forging a wonder team that will make the rest of the season an amazing experience. Or it could be a flash in the pan and with injuries to key players like Levi and Sol seeing us freefall down the table in the wake of a thumping third round defeat. Either are possible as this is football. If its the former, not the latter, I for one will be DELIGHTED to have been wrong about any earlier pessimism. COYS, and come on George - be the hero we know you can be!

I’ve never got on the players or manager’s back; it’s counterproductive. The one time I can remember doing so was Zouma, who should never have been signed. Imagine you’re a local lad who has worked his way through to the first team, the manager tells you he’s happy with you, then someone who knows nothing about football goes on the internet saying you’re useless and shouldn’t be employed by your club. And as for George, we’re incredibly lucky to have someone of his knowledge and pedigree working for us. We'll miss him when he’s poached by an EFL club.

We can sit back with a bit of self respect bernie. Like you, I never joined in with the moaners. And yes, it took George a few months to find his feet. And yes, pre-season wasn't exactly convincing. Any yes, when we have been winning, the performances havn't all been amazing. But he's recruited some very decent players and got them working well. Just looking back at those slag happy supporters, mostly on facebook, all singing his praises now. Thats's football for you, from villain to hero in a few short months. Can't help but feel that Stones will get stronger as the season progresses, even if there are some disappointments on the way.

We get tonked in R3 by either club and the George out brigade will be back, the bastards are just biding their time for the right moment.
