How well we want to do next season depends on how well we want to do the season after that. Currently, I have little faith that (if we did get promoted back again) we could do any better in the NL next time. Therefore, at the moment, would be happy for a secure, top half of NLS, along with good runs in the cups. Plenty of time for things to change though.

Youve set the bar too low
Play offs it has to be.
National League will have to wait though till the club gets extra investment

George is Manager for next season so now has the opportunity to retain/replace his own back-room staff & players. Play-offs has to be next season's target. Anything less would be unacceptable & would confirm the doubts of those who don't believe that George is the right choice.
There is no reason why we couldn't survive in the lower half of the NL. This season's managerial performance shows how not to do it, although we did have some bad luck with injuries.
Personally I think that George will get us into the play-offs. Should be an exciting season.
Will definitely be renewing my Season Ticket.

I haven't been on this forum for a bit, but just read the comments above, so here is my take on it
Yes George is inexperienced as a manager, and yes we could've gone for a higher profile manager, neither come with a guarantee!
I just don't get the argument that George hasn't won a league game since taking over as a reason to not give him the job, look what he has had to work with, every week he seems to lose another player as we prepare for the obvious relegation that is going to happen
In the past few weeks, with mainly a bunch of kids, he has pushed far more experienced teams to the limit, we haven't had the hammering some people were predicting a few weeks ago, in fact with a bit of luck we could easily won a couple of games, we've looked better, more organised and a better style of play, I've actually enjoyed some games!
He is a football manager not a miracle worker!
In the summer, he'll have a blank canvass to build a team that he wants, there will be many new additions and it might take a few weeks to bed down, so we shouldn't turn on him too quickly!
He has the job, he wants the job, now he should supported to do the job!
Give the man a chance, he just might do what Jay did!

And even if he doesn’t, so what? We’re not a National League team by right. I’d rather see a good cup run than playoffs, for the fun and the money. Is anyone desperate to be promoted for another season like this, competing against clubs losing millions and not paying wages? Sod that.

Don’t get me wrong. If we go straight back up, I’ll be as excited as anyone. But I’m not going to be setting impertinent demands and targets for the new manager. And if we do go straight back up, there will be more than a little trepidation at the possibility of another disastrous season. Truth is, we’re nowhere near having the capability to be safe enough to enjoy the National League.

Truth is, we’re nowhere near having the capability to be safe enough to enjoy the National League. I'm not so sure. This season has been a disaster, but we're not so different to clubs like Maidenhead or Aldershot, neither of whom have large budgets, and both of whom manage to survive in the NL, or even Sutton who not only survived but achieved the holy grail of promotion to the EFL. If we learn from our mistakes there's no reason why we can't get back up again and spend a few years consolidating in the NL.

Truth is, we’re nowhere near having the capability to be safe enough to enjoy the National League. If Wealdstone, Maidenhead & Altrincham can all do fine in this league without spending silly money, we certainly can.

This season didn't prove that we aren't a NL club.
All it proved was that Hak was a disastrous manager at this level, and that the board were either no longer interested, or too busy trying to sell the club (or both), to do anything about it.
Maidstone United IS a NL capable club. What we're missing is a board and manager capable of keeping us there.

Clearly they haven't lost interest. They admit to making mistakes and maybe placing too much faith in Hak for too long, but clearly they still care about the club and want it to do well. The aims haven't changed, and they will still only sell to the right person.

Yeah but he can still be sacked if his record is 1 win in 30 or what ever it would be Very good chance, George ends the season with no wins in 19 league games, and we're stuck with him because the owners rushed into giving him a deal for next season. No other club would appoint an interim manager with such a bad record, but hey here we are, we lose every game and George just smiles and praises everything. Yeah, but it all worked out nicely in the end.

I said I would give George a chance to prove me wrong, and I'm happy he has, so no complaints from me.....I havent even posted anything moaning about Elokobi as manager since the summer, so why you're trying to get a reaction when everyone should be happy I don't know.
