The IKEA that I visited Saturday after Billericay was called off must be a contender! It's a soul-destroying place, especially at weekends, and, if that doesn't ruin your day, the long wait to get out of the Ikea/Lakeside car parks will finish the job. You're better off going to the Croydon one. It's pretty much the same (although a lot less Essex), but easier to get to, and out of, afterwards. And you can go by train and tram if you're only browsing - which is almost pleasant. So from one shithole to another. Croydon makes Braintree look desirable. PS.Tonbridge beat Croydon in a friendly midweek, arranged to raise money for Croydon to pay for damage caused by vandals.

I will stick to my 3-1 from earlier in the thread but I will elevate the crowd by 100 to 1925.

The only question that Braintree is the answer to is "where's the biggest shithole in Essex?". So much competition - difficult to say!

You never been to Shenfield then? I grew up in Romford! It's an indication of my feelings for Braintree that, although I know Essex more intimately than a anyone ever needs to, I can still make that statement. When you think what O&T had to spend on JWW to get it up to NL 'standard', when it was already a superb stadium, you have to ask yourself how on earth do clubs with grounds like Braintree's EVER get into the NL?? As my Southend friend recently reminded me, Romford is in Greater London not Essex. Whilst it may historically have been a part of Essex it is like saying Charlton Athletic are a Kent team.

East Thurrock a dump too, and hard to find! That's because it doesn't really exist! West Thurrock is a place, as is Little Thurrock, but where Google thinks East Thurrock is is actually Stanford-le-Hope - and it's miles away from the other Thurrocks! Mind you, that's not a bad thing... east Thurrock’s closest town is Corringham, which is a dump, my office is just down the road fortunately I don’t go the town very often However just up the road is Fobbing and that’s very nice If you think Braintree is a shit hole google Jaywick and that will put the argument to bed! 🤭

Ah the old chestnut about administrative v geographic areas. Romford is in Essex, Bromley is in Kent, get over it.

Sensing another slow start by the team and playing catch up for the next 90 minutes. Can't help it but it feels like a 0-1 result coming our way and a very discontented forum in the aftermath. Still, a decent attendance today with around 1,900 and an away following of about 45.

Thinks we are going to do well today. Feels like a 2 - 0 win with around 1,800 attendance. Play-offs here we come

Would it not be easier to name the places in Essex that aren't total holes? I will kick off by naming Concord Rangers, which in many respects fits the Essex stereotype, they have little, but there is something about the place that is a bit more welcoming.

btw, for those who don't know the Braintree Manager played an unremarkable part season for us in the mid 1980's at left back, although he scored in his first two games but was rather partial to being booked and sent off

Would it not be easier to name the places in Essex that aren't total holes? I was pleasantly surprised by some locations in Essex eg Beth Chatto's garden, Wivenhoe and Constable Country. There were some other lovely places I was thinking of too, before I realised they were in Suffolk.

Coggleshall is a pretty little town, which I think is in Essex. To be fair to said county, Kent has its fair share or 'armpit' towns too.

Back to near enough full strength for today. Means that only 3 points on the board at the end of the match will satisfy play off hopes. Stones have been held back this season by the number of draws, not to mention late goals conceded. It's a must win game.

We are told we have around twenty of those a year 😂⚽️
