Didn’t we sign a full back on loan recently so hopefully he can cover Wishart and Cheisman?

A few bullet points from my head:
Wishart is a massive miss when he is FB or suspended!
Braintree were a poor side.
We should have scored more.
Akambi was slightly disappointing but 100% effort as always.
I thought Khan and Bouchard were stand outs.
I thought Allen was quite good.
Marshall looked good (against a poor attack though).
The Braintree fan waiting outside - did he wait for the Stones fan he wanted to see?!

Still a team that looks a little off the pace when you take out one of the key players. Chesmain and Wishart work so well together that it never quite looks the same when one of them is missing. One slight criticism of Justin, he needs to realise he doesn't have to do it all himself. A few times he's done the hard work and a simple layoff or cross would have created a decent chance but he takes an extra touch and the opportunity is gone. This might explain our lack of cutting edge in the final third. Iffy is guilty of that as well.

In truth there were only 2 downsides Chesmain's injury. How serious, how long ? Wisharts yellow card meaning a 2 match suspension. Anybody know when that starts ?

Jayser I think George Borg has a novel's worth of stuff against his name... According to one fan on another forum, John Still once had him by the throat and bashed his head on a dugout in a match many years ago. Spitting at fans, offering to sort things out in the car park after games and telling Jewish fans at Walton and Hersham that Hitler 'is going to sort you out' seem to be but a few things he's been accused of. He was also deliberately bashed in the nuts by one of his former players. Sounds like Borg's behaviour today was just another 'normal' day at the office for him.

I got the impression from the pm interview that John and Hak weren't happy with only scoring one goal after dominating the match and creating several chances. It sounds like they're on the look out for a natural finisher to replace McClure. This could be the missing piece in the jigsaw that sees us storm into a good play off spot and would give us a good chance of winning them, much to the annoyance of several on here. However, is there any room in the budget for this and are there any natural goalscorers available at the moment?

I thought Boucard was excellent, positionally he was always making himself available for a pass from everyone else, he also talked a lot telling people where others were trying to organise etc, and overall done the little things to keep the ball moving and us in possession which usually go unnoticed.
Khans 50/50 tackle where both players went down was one of them where another ref might have shown khan a red, from my view he was off the ground but it was the follow through from there player which kicked khan, imo it certainly wasn't khan going in studs first which there manager was claiming. I thought their managers yellow card was for encroachment on the pitch, reading the comments above about what he was saying might not have had any complaints if that had been upgraded to a red.
The Iffy, penalty claim hard to see clearly from the town end but our players in close proximity were adamant it was a pen and their players looked like they were expecting a penalty to be given, this imo is a sign that it is a penalty.

It sounded like a coded messgae to T&O - "give us the money to buy another Piggot or Turgot", so we can get into the play-offs, and even win them. Whether or not T&O actually really want to spend money just to get the headache of going straight back up again is another matter...

While personally, I'd welcome promotion, I dont think we should overstretched our finances to do so. Also wondered if T&O do have any spare money maybe it would be better to put it towards next season and have a real go for the title then?

Braintree have conceded a whopping 62 goals this season - that's the joint worst in the league (with Hungerford). Their defence is very poor but we struggled to tuck them away. Akanbi seems to struggle to get much of the ball where he needs it at the moment - when McClure was up there with him, the attack looked more balanced and they complemented each other well. We still look dangerous down the flanks with the likes of Wishart and Amaluzor, plus we can break well from midfield but we didn't create that many actual clear-cut chances. It's difficult not to agree with John that we really miss McClure.

I was right by the dugout (as you can probably guess from my previous comment) and I heard every word. As I said, he screamed repeatedly - at least four times - "Look at his leg!" right in the assistant's face. The assistant did his job professionally - he waited until the referee had sorted the rest of the mess out, and then had a chat about George's behaviour which then led to the yellow card being produced. The tackle was hard to call, I had a great view of it but it happened very fast and it wasn't easy to see if it was a foul. I presume the ref had the same problem and he can't give what he doesn't see, blood on legs or not. When the ref didn't give the penalty, George and their coach were pissing themselves. They thought it was a pen and they got away with one.
