Good piece by Laura Kuenssberg: BBC News - Brexit: Will it be a Canadian or an Australian ending? www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-51360178Just in case there is anyone out there who thinks Brexit is now 'done', and/or that Boris and his cronies (aka the government) always speak the truth. If it has a rising inflection at the end of a sentence it's Australian!

If things are gonna be as bad as you think then why not take a trip to Beachy head and throw yourself off of it then you will not have to worry anymore.

Back to the winner-loser thing, I see. The only way of knowing who 'won', will surely not be for a number of years, when we have some idea of the impact of Brexit - whether we will all be better off, or not, presumably? One prediction, the government's own from 2018, is that were we to negotiate a Canada style deal, it would result in our economy being 4.9% worse off that if we'd stayed in the EU. Personally, I don't see that as a good reason for leaving, but five years is a long time to mess with the country's well-being...

How long did it take Greenland to "get over" coming out of the E.U? Can they not be our "template"?

But whatever happens, whether good or bad, it would be almost impossible to say whether it's because of Brexit, or whether it would have happened anyway. The only thing we can say for sure is if it's good Brexiteers will claim the credit and if it's bad Remainers will blame Brexit.

Good point about Greenland. High inflation and low employment seems 'just the ticket'. Freezing cold and lack of infrastructure is just what we need. Probably the model we can best follow now. Greenland is 80% dependent on Denmark for trade, surely we can do just as well with our good mate Donald 'over the pond'. Sunny uplands here we come !

Fortunately, Greenland is not a good comparison. They never really joined, as they were part of Denmark at the time, so they never really left either.
Nevertheless, it was a long, drawn out, proceess, that doesn't seem to have done them any favours.
But 'idependence', hey? Surely worth all that trouble?

Cant believe all of you want Brexit to fail so badly just because you can then say I told you so. I am supposed to be the doom and gloom merchant on this forum but you are outglooming me big style. Try being a little more confident and stop bleeding worrying especially as you can do nothing about anything that does or does not happen. Life is hard enough without making things even harder for yourself by pointless worrying.

Try being a little more confident and stop bleeding worrying especially as you can do nothing about anything that does or does not happen. Life is hard enough without making things even harder for yourself by pointless worrying. Not this narrative again. You cannot grasp it can you. Nobody wants things to be bad because it is our lives. We are just being realistic though and things don't look great. We are 'outglooming' you because we read things and ascertain facts rather than spouting nonsense spread on Facebook. You still won't disbelieve the Lisbon Treaty would have tied us into joining the Euro in 2021 because someone on Facebook said it, even though I pointed you towards the actual Lisbon Treaty and the fact that we had already agreed an opt out. I might also point out that brexiters queued up in vast numbers to claim they wanted Brexit at any price even if they lost jobs, businesses and their children were denied rights (yes, I really heard all those claims and more than once). How could I not feel gloomy hearing that. I want jobs, modern industry and strong rights for my children (and me) as opposed to a freedom I never lost, a blue passport and the chance for some fishermen to catch fish we don't generally eat anyway (look it up).
