Brexiteers are living in a fantasy world. Unfortunately, now, so are the rest of us...

Yea, you got it right sword, all our best British medical staff are looking after pesky foreigners abroad. Something has got to be done about it. Let's blame the EU. Never mind, we've escaped now, sunny uplands here we come.

If British doctors are in Africa and Asia what does that tell you about conditions here. Just so you are aware that in 1960, between 30% and 40% of all NHS doctors were from India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka. www.theguardian.com/politics/2015/jan/06/nigel-farage-doctors-uk-dont-speak-good-englishYou can't blame the EU for this one.

Has Barney disappeared after his great revelation that only 5.5% of NHS staff are from the EU, in relation to the question about NHS staff shortages. Can someone look for him in the cellar. Perhaps Cummings has imprisoned him alongside Jacob Rees-Mogg

Never mind, we've escaped now, sunny uplands here we come. I said sick children not pesky foreigners. When it comes to the health and well being of children there is no race or creed that should suffer but would it not be simpler for all the African and Asian doctors to look after their own people instead of working abroad and vice versa for the British staff. I am just a simple man who likes simple solutions so why do so many people make so many complications.

I am just a simple man who likes simple solutions so why do so many people make so many complications. Doctors trained here started leaving in greater numbers under this government, particularly Jeremy Hunt. As Barney pointed out earlier, the NHS is nothing to do with the EU. The fact people are wanting to leave in greater numbers is down to the government that brexiters are, on the whole, responsible for electing and who believe will serve them well. I have, I think, pointed out before that it is our government that is the root cause of our problems a lot of the time not the EU. Hopefully, being more accountable will make them change. However, I am not optimistic. Oh and the loss of training bursaries...

So for the sake of simplicity, tens of thousands of foreign doctors and nurses working in the NHS should go 'home'
Again for the sake of simplicity, British doctors and nurses currently working outside of the UK should return 'home' too.
Like it sword when you make it sound so simple, brexit has truly arrived, all will soon be well in our land.

I could be wrong because I don't know the figures but I think Sword's 'simple' solution could lead to a greater staffing crisis in the NHS. However, I will agree, again, with Barney. Longer term, we can solve the problems by training more doctors. Such a move does show that it was the government's refusal to train doctors, due to a dogmatic austerity policy, that caused NHS problems, no EU migrants. Don't forget that EU staff are 5% of the total staff and EU citizens are a similar number of the population. Their ratio of people to NHS staff stays the same. The problems thus lie with things that are not to do with the EU such as indigenous staff to people ratio and non-EU immigrants staff to people ratio. Both under the control of the UK government. Oh dear, more evidence of the Brexit fantasy...

Why do we send our apples abroad and then force people to buy tasteless French ones. Let the French have their golden (un)delicious and leave the cox's in this country for us to enjoy. Simples!

So having listened to brexiters banging on about setting our own trade policy and having more global trade here you are banging on about less trade with other countries. I advise you consider variety of products and read about competitive advantage. Oh, and for the record, I love apples but not the cox variety (although to be fair I don't like Golden (un) delicious either

I think sword's view of the World is very much about everybody getting back into their geographic and ethnic boxes.
He may well be right about a brexit utopia with barriers on work, travel, study, trade, co-operation and the rest.
So much to look forward to, so much can change for the better. Happy days and sunny uplands ahead.
