Well it is possible to get a pretty good idea of playing budgets by scrutinising clubs annual accounts, admittedly published a year after the fact. But i agree, nearly all guestimates are based on assumptions rather than facts.

Facebook idiots already calling for George to go ! And the new respectable Facebook site has been invaded by the "Ash out" brigade. They went for me as I stood up for common-sense regarding the alley being blocked in the Genco, so I left that FB page, as its not for me! -As for why anyone would say George out, defies belief! He's done more for the Team in one season than anyone else has and galvanised the supporters. Something that the club couldn't buy and had been lacking since JayS' days. I missed Ipswich due to illness but made Coventry.even though we lost, it was an evening to savour. The whole of Maidstone was buzzing because of it.

Didn't realise half the gate went to the other team. At least Worthing would have given us over 20k today. Yeah, as you say, 20k today, maybe even a bit more from last Wednesday’s game, a nice wedge, presumably all unbudgeted for too I watched it on the telly. I thought how different their playing surface was to ours. The ball didn’t seem to quite have the same zip and bounce as we see at the Gallagher, maybe it’s got more ‘damping’ built into it, and the players seemed to cope better to, though some (actually quite a bit) of our passing was horrible and we do concede possession way too casually for my liking Been a helluva season and disappointed that’s it’s now over…certainly Disappointed not to be in NL next season…not so much The 'grass' seemed a lot longer - it looked more like actual grass than our surface does. Perhaps newer? Perhaps a different make? Also it looked uneven compared to ours and it has a noticable camber - like grass pitches often have.

No question George will be gutted. It could have gone better today but this is football. Our lack of a single prolific goalscorer probably cost us in the end, when you think Worthing has a player who scored goals for fun all though the season. No doubt the right signings will be on George's agenda for 24/25. I think this is the key take from today (and perhaps most of the season) - we don't have a 'guaranteed' goal scorer. Our first half was poor, but even there we we only had a penalty against us. Second half, we dominated, but couldn't score, despite George trying all our options. They had one real break - and scored.

Someone mentioned Ollie Pearce being on £1200 a week. Why dont we do that next season, get a decent striker in. Look how well worth it he has been. Instead of picking up players from lower down and hoping for the best. Take Bentley & Adu Poku , combined they must be on something around £1000 , why not sign 1 striker with that wage, insted of 2 ? What am I missing ? Another thing, why can't George get a handful of the U21's on loan from Wolves ? Or Wolves not that fond of Big George ?

Fair point. It may sit uncomfortably with some and perhaps it can affect team dynamics. But successful strikers come with a big premium and if that means wages are double that of any other player, sobeit. As for picking up a handful of wandering, wanna move on, under 21 league players on loan, no thanks !

No guarantee with a big money striker - they could get injured and miss half the season, just like Levi. Or get poached, Levi again. George built a team that has done pretty well and now knows itself and how to play at this level. A bit more quality in midfield and up front and no reason why we can't do better next year. In the league, anyway. This season has been about rebuilding. Next season will show whether or not we can not only consolidate, but also if there is real ambition to compete in the NL. Still not sure we are ready for that yet, but certainly thanks for the ride.

One of the things to remember for me this season. I got to the stage where I wasn't nervous about the kickoff- I knew we were going to watch some decent football, with some joyous moments along with some ahhhhh!!!- Yesterday was no exception. Once the team got going, it was great to watch. Thats something good too look back at. I know we still could have our down days- I didn't go to Gloucester, but my son and his other half did- he said we were shocking, he said George was mad with a few of them. They must have been out partying.
But, thats not how it was and compared with the squad end of last season, this has a far better feel-good factor.

Still stings… but would you trade that day at Ipswich for going up via the play offs? Absolutely not. Narrowly losing in the play offs with an FA Cup run to the fifth round beating a championship team away is a season to cherish. Can’t get promoted every season, we’re a top end NLS club. That’s just who we are at the moment.
Hoping for some tweaks to the match day set up next season, keep a nice core and hope for another enjoyable term next year.

Got to agree - there has been so few U21 players for the Stones or the opposition who have been outstanding. In fact, I do wonder why the parent club is paying wages for players who aren't going to make it at NL or NLS level let alone further up the ladder. I can only assume that clubs just hoover up anyone who shows a modicum of talent and hope that 1 in 100 make it.

Yeah, number 1 aim should be to get the Genco back. Not sure we've ever really had the whole stand!

We have to remember that we started this season with the trauma of our horrific crash out of the NL fresh in our minds, and with an unproven new manager whose record for the brief time he'd been with us was terrible. And with some big name clubs determined to go back up asap, and several smaller clubs moneyed up for promotion.
As we licked our wounds, most of us were just looking forward to a season where home games wouldn't be segregated and we could enjoy our football once again, and maybe have - that constant of smaller clubs - a good cup run.
To say what we actually got far exceeded that, is a huge understatement. So absolutely no complaints about this season, despite how it ended. And I'm already looking forward to August. What can George do in his second season?!
Let Worthing (or Braintree - I can't believe I'm writing this!) have all the trauma of the NL (be careful what you wish for, Worthing fans!), while we settle back for a stress-free summer and look forward to another enjoyable season in the NS.

UTS I'm still living the goals, and that last 8 minutes at Ipswich! Never, ever going to forget that day.
