I can only echo the above. I would have definitely kept him. George’s achievements this year will always be legendary which we will talk of with much joy for the rest of our lives. However, moving on - which George already has done by dry early on canning most of the squad in his disappointing retained list - he does seem to have issues with keeping good players such as Dom, Christie, Razzaq and his last summer star signing in Devonte and that is concerning. To cull the cup heroes like Sole and Reynolds so mercilessly - and those deemed by George to be good enough to get us to fourth place like Faal and Klass and Bone also dismissed so rapidly isn’t good. Of course if he compiles a mega squad of superstars over the summer who March undefeated to being NLS champions then George knows best! However I can’t help thinking that outside of Corne and Covolan the retained list seems more like a list of those who wouldn’t say boo to a goose and are quiet players - basically those who would never think to question or challenge the boss. If I were a good player being chased by the Stones this summer I would definitely question that lack of loyalty to players the management team have claimed to have personal relationships with. This merciless side to George the smiling tiger isn’t who loses patience so easily with his own choices of players is a little disconcerting even though his achievements this season are 100% legendary. Let’s see what the summer brings - hopefully every signing will be better than each of those dumped. They have to be otherwise what was the point? Thank goodness he rates Corne and Covolan! Just to pick up on a few points. Reynolds - for ages, his only goal was the Ipswich one (for even longer he didn't even have that goal). He bumped up his stats with a hatty against 9 men. I thought he was good though but not irreplaceable. Klass - short term to get us to the end of the season and add someone who who pass through the lines - I thought he was good but he never ever did the pass first time and always jinked back once or twice which was rather annoying for rush on several occasions. Bone - I would have kept him but again, he was featuring less and less as the season got to the business end. Covolan - isn't retained. He has been offered terms like several others and we now wait to see if he can get a better deal elsewhere. Faal - his loan deal came to an end. He wasn't dismissed. He may well be in talks with us, other clubs. Ultimately he has dispensed of quite a few players but we do want to improve the team and so it was inevitable. This is pretty much the standard approach in non-league. Agree on Aransibia - I thought he was going to be much better than he turned out. As for the lack of loyalty - deals are one year long - no such thing as loyalty. you think Reynolds or Bone would have signed on for another year of Bromley had come calling? Ask Swordy for his opinion on that one. And " the retained list seems more like a list of those who wouldn’t say boo to a goose and are quiet players" - I think that's just rubbish to be honest.

I agree pwoodstone. Maybe if we had to make a generalisation about those on the retained/offered deals list it would be that they are generally our fittest players?

"George’s achievements this year will always be legendary which we will talk of with much joy for the rest of our lives." But...FFS - most successful manager we've had in years, in his first ever season - what more do you want? A whole summer of this sort of shite is going to be unbearable. Be prepared. It’s like it every summer. But if you really want to bask in negativity and criticism visit the Facebook group. Even the new one is going the same way as the old. Sorry guys - Didnt realise that Im not allowed to utter a single negative word against Saint George OBE, MBE, blessed be his name - maybe you should build a statue of him to worship! Maybe some of our departed players this year and at the end of the year made the same mistake! I was just stating my opinion that the number of "his" players not retained by George - both during the season and at the end of it - was disappointing, whether you see it as good that its "normal non-league practise" to ship most of your squad when you come 4th in the League and get to 5th Round of FA Cup or not (I dont, as you may have guessed). Im not called "long gone" for nothing and to me its a shame that the days of loyalty and many players playing 100s of games for the club are long gone and now is only an odd few (like Corne) who achieve that. Dont worry about a summer of discontent from me as if the summer months are going to be filled with NWS politics, Swordy and bookmakers, and a total blind faith from the forum that George will perform even greater miracles next year with an even better squad (from where we do not know and with what in terms of money we have no idea), then I will resume posting only when we have something to post about..............................................like when we sign a wonderful star quality replacement who, of course, will be better than the good players we have either shipped or not been able to hang onto or offer terms to at the end of their loan periods. Enjoy the summer, COYS and lets look forward to being Champions next year. Maybe. An FA Trophy final would make a change. We'll see. Onwards and upwards!

Quite simply Long gone, many of us respect George and trust in his judgement. Then there are those, like you, who are less keen. Fair enough. But like you, I miss the days of players staying around for year after year. I miss it but that doesnt mean I want those days back. Tbh to do that today would send the club into a steady long term decline, but lets not go there. Hak made the mistake of hanging onto most of his squad and look where that got him and us. The bottom line on last season is despite the very considerable upsides, George didn't think we had enough players of quality to get us to the next level. Much to look forward to with some exciting incomings.

Both George and the club have a problem - the success of the season just finished.
For George, he doesn't have the luxury of gradually improving, season by season - when your first season is as good as that one, the only way to improve is to get the club promoted!
And for the club, George isn't going to hang around in the NS for long. He's stayed with us because it's only his second season, and to get the job done. But if we don't go up, I don't think he'll stay. So, to hang on to George, we need to get promoted.
Anyone who enjoyed this season in the NS, and is happy to stay here for a few more seasons is going to be disappointed in the next one!

I disagree that we NEED to get promoted, until the club is sold and settled down with new owners any promotion could have be disastrous for the club especially financially.

You could be right, but my point is that circumstances have contrived to create a situation where the only real target for both George and the club is promotion next season. They don't really have a choice.
