Not sure what to expect but think it,s a great chance for John an Co to try out different players an formations without having to worry about the league position. Not expecting a big following.

Weather permitting I shall be there. Have to admit I've lost touch with who we've got available for this match - fortunate then, in so many ways, that I'm not the manager.

Going to be cold! Although, according to the BBC, no snow. But anyone going by train might have problems - South Eastern have already decided tomorrow is a Saturday!

You can ignore the BBC forecast as the game will have its own, special, micro-climate. The little ray of sunshine that is David Beckham has chosen the visit of the mighty Stones as the one to make his inaugural appearance at.

Rumour has it Posh was there yesterday and she asked David why people kept chalking her head and smacking balls around the table with her.

According to JS this evening, we don't have a single forward available for selection.
A good omen I think - three nil to us then, courtesy of the de Havilland goal machine.

So, looks like the weather should be ok - a heady 6c and no rain. As to what side we put out, recent dealings suggest a few changes, but we are not going to frighten their defence, unless WDH plays centre forward. Maybe that is the plan??? Trying to sort out the comings and goings, this week it has been: 1. The arrival of our 6th keeper 2. Cassidy was returning, but now isn't 3. Mullins came back, but promptly left. 4. We have another full back, to add to the one who arrived.
Quite what this does to the balance, let alone the attacking abilities, of our team, I'm not sure. One of the main reasons behind our defensive frailties is the huge changes in players, but now we have three more who need to get used to each other. It is just as well John Still says he keeps things simple. Given that it is already proven that attackers from lower leagues rarely prosper in the NLS, plus the fact that we can't afford much in the way of striker's wages, it seems our only hope is to find an under 21 player from higher up, whose club feel he would benefit from full on game time. If so, let's hope he turns out to be better than Joe Quigley. Much as I want to get excited about what the new regime can offer, I fear it is more likely that any big changes will come slowly and with a view to next season, not this. As for Salford, for us to score a goal would be good, to only lose by one nil might indicate improvements in defence. Most of all am hoping our few decent players don't get injured or sent off, so we at least have a better chance when Fylde visit in the league next week, because I really, really, really would like to see a home win for a change. Not holding breath mind.

I think we need to be careful we don't build up our expectations too much. Still is an excellent manager, one of the best, but he's not a miracle worker, and Wheeler left a right mess* behind.
Still, in JS we trust.
(See what I did there?)

If not, so be it, I am not too concerned, as I feel much more relaxed about the Management team now in charge, and the future of the football club in general. JS is very grounded, vastly experienced, and has a positive vision for the club. It feels quite exciting.

I suspect the only real obstacle to this would be some obscure FA rule that prevents an owner / shareholder of a club playing for another club in the same league.

Was it in time to stop the team travelling up today?
