There seems to be a change to the website tonight. Completely different presentation and NO NLS or NLN scores. A sign of things to come? If so, bastards.

Corne's goal sublime, but our 5th was an absolute shut you eyes and smash it screamer. See that we were kicking towards ds the Town End, yet again, in the second half. Time to scrap the coin toss for that privilege and let the home team choose.

Currently on the National League TV schedule, but we've featured before only to disappear come match day.

Almost a case of not who we can keep, but who can we afford - especially if we make the NL. Should that happen, then George will have to work miracles in attracting players on our budget - hence, regardless of previous experiences, wouldn't be surprised to see us keeping more than we otherwise might. Covolan, Kyprianou, Bone, Greenidge, Fowler and Brown could form the basis of defence, because George has got them well drilled now - but that would still mean three new faces for a defensive squad. Midfield and attack were where we were most wanting. Corne, of course, but he needs some quality around him. Tanga definitely (operating as a winger), with someone similarly pacy and tricky the other side. Like Rush too and maybe he could give neanderthal centre backs the run around, but only if we play to his strengths. Klaas has looked promising, but apart from Corne, we don't have any stand out players. Indeed, the whole season has been based on steady team work, rather than flair and can't see us surviving on that if we go up. If we don't, then keep as many as we can, to go again next season. They have done well and would like to see if they can push on to better things.

So unlucky. VAR cancels out a goal by the proverbial sheet of Bronco. Great effort, Coventry.

Mixed feelings about this. The whole point of a knockout competition is just that - a one off tie with all the jeopardy that involves. Hanging on for draw is no longer possible, except that hanging on for penalties will probably become an even greater objective. Perhaps the FA should cut out the crap and just make the FA cup a penalty shoot out competition? The whole thing could take place in a single day, with everyone going to Wembley.🥴 There is no doubt that cup replays clog up the fixture list, but then so do pointless competitions like the KSC and the current host of 'league cup' ties with PL U23 teams playing FL clubs. The seasons just get longer and longer. Fixtures used to be just Saturday and either Tuesday or Wednesday. Now they are seven days a week, anytime from midday to well after 10pm. All because of TV money, which ultimately waters down the whole experience.

Certainly for some, though we still have the play offs to look forward to. Hampton and Richmond still have their own play off place to play for, while Maidstone need to reset after the Truro debacle in addition to getting thrashed in the away fixture. It is also possible we might face Hampton again in the eliminator - though there are plenty of other possibilities for the final league games too, but it won't hurt to bounce back and put on a really good performance for the home fans. 0-0 then? Probably!

Yep, Corne or Covolan. Both pretty much in every game, both heroes of our cup run.

Hmm... Can't comment on the game, because wasn't there, however a couple of things from the highlights. If Tanga had followed in properly on Corne's shot that hit the post, we would have been one up and it could have been a different game. We really didn't cope at all well with the wind. Somebody needs to have a word with Lucas about penalties. He commits himself far too early and makes it really easy for the taker to put the ball the other side. Presumably, such things are studied, but often wonder if the best approach should be stand still and, if necessary, wear it. Top or bottom corner is rarely saved, but an awful lot of penalties seem to go down the middle in the very space the keeper has just vacated. Penalties could yet be a decisive factor in our season so hopefully somebody is thinking about that.

Hard to disagree re the Premier League, though the National League chucking their hat in is a different matter. In its own way, the NL is just as bloated as the PL - except that when a PL club gets into trouble, there is always a buyer. In the NL, there is always a real danger of a club folding completely.

Challenging for promotion or even getting in the play offs appears to be messing with more than just Maidstone. Look at how Ipswich, Leeds and especially Leicester are dropping points in the Championship; ditto Liverpool and Arsenal, plus Rangers too. Seem to remember Sutton bottled promotion a few times and one wonders why? It is a funny old game...

So, we played like a fart in a trance? Had a bad feeling about this one - maybe something to do with all the optimistic score predictors. Not sure anyone will benefit in that league. Shit happens in football and there are plenty of occasions when a form team suddenly comes unstuck against another who is very out of sorts. Just ask Sword after so many bets coming unstuck in just that scenario.🥴😝😤. Realistically, looks to be home to Bath in the eliminator. We have proved to be decent enough in these games, most of which were away, so am guessing George will say there is nothing to fear on that account. Form and confidence is another matter, so need to up our game for Saturday against H&R, or we could be out of our next cup run at the first time of asking.

Things not going at all well: 2-0 down at half time. So much for all the win predictions. Is this going to be that 'one game too nany'?
