Interesting one, this. The newcomers are doing what often happens, starting well, but no signs of fading as yet. Two players in the early top scorers league, which may show flexibility or options across the pitch.
Meanwhile, Stones still unable to keep a clean sheet and for all George's efforts to get them better organised, gave away yet another goal from a set piece, plus a soft one following losing the ball just outside our area.
After the debacle against Taunton, we are entitled to at least two things this time - a lot more ambition and a referee who doesn't favour the way side!
Aveley's results suggest they are not a side to sit back and suck the life out of a game, like Taunton, while being new to this league, we must hope they are less cynical than some we have already had the misfortune to play.
Could be entertaining? Probably 0-0 bore draw then...

Looking forward to this one against new opposition, unlike the teams we meet year in year out, or the Kent derbies which have an increasingly unpleasant edge. They’re above us on merit, so don’t want to underestimate them like Torquay at the weekend. Should have enough for a good home win, but who knows?

Hopefully a home win but will take a draw. A defeat wouldnt be disastrous but it might shake confidence a bit.

Did we play Aveley in the Isthmian (quite) a few years back?
Or maybe we played AT against another Essex team.

We did play Aveley at their old ground in the Isthmian. It was the day Andrew Flintoff went berserk with the bat against the Aussies in the Ashes and the Stones barmy army invaded a wedding reception and almost cleared the buffet. The only other thing I remember was the ref pointing at me and shouting "shut up you fat bastard" Happy Days!

Got to win home games, hopefully we can gain 3 points, guess we will find out how good they are, they beat taunton 4-1. Don't know any of thir players bar jonathan north ex Wealdstone keeper and one nana kyei

And we played Grays there a couple of times in 2014 and 2015 as part of their groundshare with Aveley.

Just watched the 'highlights' of their home game against Dartford. Can't say I was impressed - by either team.

With Bath City losing, Aveley are currently top of the NLS.
