I thought we lost to a better side. Aveley were very impressive in the first half especially and had players who could hold the ball, find angles and create space in a way that we couldn't. We matched them in the second half but never looked like scoring.
For us, I thought Kelly was very good but of the other new players, other than Ezennholim, no one is standing out. Amantchi is a bit of an enigma: surprisingly quick over the ground but loses the ball a lot because his touch isn't good enough and not hugely effective in the air. We need some of the others to pick their game up. As for Sol, I forgot he was on the pitch in the first half.
All in all, still obviously a work in progress but there's not a lot beyond the players we have now, other than Corne, who you feel would actually improve the side significantly.

Best team won. Aveley played quick neat football & the Stones were just "kick upfield & hope".
Again we were lacking in midfield. So far neither Reynolds nor Aransibia look good enough & both avoid headers/challenges. Bone should be in midfield.
Greenidge, Corne & Hoyte all out injured, just as they finished last season. Does raise some questions.
Mid-table finish looks favourite at the moment.

Just received a text from my Essex connection who works with 2 Aveley supporters who attended last nights game and they told him that we are the worst team they have played thus far. Make of that what you will.☹

Their words not mine, until Saturday coming I haven't even seen us play yet which is why I'm looking forward to Chippenham, win lose or draw.

Finally caught up with the highlights and Aveley certainly look well organised, especially in defence, where their keeper had little to do. However, we wasted a couple of very good chances, which could have made all the difference. With the three goals at Weymouth all coming from defensive errors, we are struggling to create anything in midfield and attack. Bone in midfield could certainly improve things and playing Chizi as a proper winger would help too - thus far he is our only player able to run with the ball. Get Corne and Greenidge back as well and we should offer a lot more overall. Until then we are unlikely to threaten the better sides, while the others (like every recent season bar one), will soon work out how to beat us.

The player who impressed me the most (apart from Covolan) was Chi, but it was odd that our biggest threat (and most talented player), who was constantly in their area or running down the wing (with or without the ball) had the number 3 on his back!

So so poor tonight. Do not even remember their keeper making a save. Our attacking play is awful. Just kick it long and hope. What is George coaching them during the week. The squad is so weak. Just look at the bench. Any news on our injured players and when they are likely to return as there has been no communication on this as usual. Club is going backwards. No chance of playoffs with this squad. 8 games, no clean sheets. Investment required in new players. New striker, midfielder and a wide player required. Not looking forward to this weekend at all. Maybe “club is going backwards” is a little strong. Just saying.

Hard game - Bath would have been easier. But Worthing and Chelmsford will be harder (and probably away). And you can't go up without winning each play-off - so that's what we have to do.
And at least Rush isn't cup-tied!
