I think we need to be concentrating on the mess at our club rather on whatever Ebbsfleet are doing. Threads like this just keep everyone distracted from the real issue.

I bear no particular ill will towards Ebbsfleet, so I'm not sure why Phil latched onto my comment which was entirely about looking for a comparison between the spending by some clubs to get into the EFL and those looking to get into the PL from the Championship. The risk to reward ratio is what I was looking at, not about whether it is right or wrong to risk it all financially speaking.
As a fan of both Stones and Leeds, I know about that, and I cannot tell you of many darker times than when Stones dropped out of the EFL and were struggling to find a home, whilst at the same time Leeds was being asset stripped by charlatans such as Ken Bates following the financial suicide strategy of Peter Ridsdale et al that saw us fall from Champions League semi-finalists to League 1 also rans in six years.

Seems to be a law of football. The more you spend and more successful you become, the greater the demand from fans for more spending and more success. But sooner or later, every club finds its true level.

Compared to what Terry and Oliver are asking, Fleet's aspirations always look pie in the sky.

Losses To May 2014 £609,274 To May 2015 £1,636,926 To May 2016 £2,080,685 To May 2017 £1,959,930 To May 2018 £2,622,613 To May 2019 £2,661,073 To May 2020 £1,678,560 To May 2021 £1,321,818 To May 2022 £1,790,700 To May 2023
Totalling a fairly chunky £16,361,579
I reckon they could post another loss this time, as it's for their last season in the NLS but perhaps breakeven for this season just finished? They are trying to address it apparently!

That's a remarkable amount of money to throw away on something so relatively insignificant. Presumably it is the owners/backers who are stumping up the money, because it hardly works as a business model. After all, Fleet aren't exactly going to be a huge money maker - they don't have the fan base, it's hard to see where any future profits would recoup these sort of losses and can't think the value of the total club assets makes them a safe bet either. Like to think that if Terry and Oliver had had an extra £16 million to play with over the last few years, not only would we have Town End and Riverside stands, we'd be riding high in the NL and looking to lay a grass pitch for the FL.

And the poor deluded souls think that new ground will get built as well. Don't hold your breath boys.

It's all linked to the Paramount project on the Swanscombe Peninsular. I don't think the owner is looking to make any money! He has fallen in live with the club now. Good news for now but all a bit Dovery.

The old debts are linked to the theme park that will never be built. The new ground is linked to the grimmest commie block housing development. Be amazed if the stadium ever gets built. Happy to be proved wrong. £16 million could have built a stadium and subsidy to be in the EFL by now.

Wait until it is built I know, but you can't deny it would be a nice stadium if built as pictured.

What a phenomenal waste of money - over £16m in less than 10 years. For a club that rarely gets gates over 1,500.
The average gate for 2021/22 was 1,312 - so that's £1,365 debt for each person.
But, that's just for that year - taking the accumulated debt, that's just under twelve and a half thousand quid per fan!
