Is/was it Queen of the South who played at Hampden Park? Queens Park fc play at Hampden Park, QOS play in Dumfries. I believe they now play at a much small ground next door called lesser hampden, although they will play at the main stadium this season while the pitch is renovated.

Those figures are stunning. I can partly understand the financial brinkmanship played out in the Championship season after season as at least a dozen clubs there think it will be their year to get into the PL, but what is the financial reward for getting into EFL 2? Is it really that significant or worth that level of financial risk? I'm not sure why a lot of you worry about us, as it looks like some of you can't wait for us to fail, so you can say, I told you so.! When we were going to the wall 10+years ago, I'd have taken anyone to take over the club, I also thought when the doctor took over he would be gone in a couple of years time, well, he's still with us, and as far as I know he's still full on at The Fleet. I know it won't last forever, nothing does, if he leaves, we all know what the outcome will probably be, can us supporters do anything,? no we can't. I would just ask you the same question, if your owners had the chance to sell up, and move on for a really good price, with your new owner saying what he wants to do with the club by way of improvements, then you just have to go with it. I'm 74 now and not in good health and I'm loving every minute of the Docs investment as is everybody else, he also want's league football for the club, that's his aim, to him the money doesn't come into it, he's as excited as the next man at the games, and the football served up is the best I've seen in 40+ years. Having said that, if we got relegated this season he could up sticks and clear off, personally I don't think that would happen, but it might. Yes we have had plenty of ups and downs, people not being paid on time etc, but I was led to believe things were going on behind the doctors back which he wasn't happy about. Personally I'm not bothered about what other clubs have, or don't have, I want them all to succeed, but only for the supporters, following our own football club is a fantastic time in our lives, home or away, a pint here, and a pint there with your mates, which we all look forward to on game day, well, I know I do.

Phil, I don’t think anyone wants you to go to the wall. What sticks in the throat is clubs running up huge losses year on year when those of us who live within our means can’t hope to compete. Presumably the doctor underwrites the losses but it’s just not sustainable in the long term and it distorts the transfer market and the long term viability of the game itself. Do we really want our national sport to become the plaything of the super rich?

Hear hear. The only club I would happily see fail is Milton Keynes. I'd rather even Gillingham around than not. The only joy I got on Saturday for some of last season was them losing as well. The blighters even took away that joy by getting better at the end. 🤣🤣

Do we really want our national sport to become the plaything of the super rich? I understand that Dave, and as far as I know he underwrites our losses. Yes I agree rich owners hike everything up within the game, you only have to look at football at the top level, however, wealthy people seem to be going after football clubs lower down the pyramid, we all know that losses are fairly inevitable, but, for billionaires it's next to nothing, it's how long before they get bored with it and want to spend it elsewhere. I just think if he'd have walked into your club ten years ago you'd all be as happy as Larry now. You just have to go along with it now, I don't like many things now that go on in the world now in many forms, but, again nothing I can do about it.

We can all agree that buying a National League South football club and spending £18 million on one promotion and a main stand with five or six rows of seats is completely f**king insane. You could have completely rebuilt the whole stadium up front and still had over £10 million left over earning interest to subsidise the team for that.

Not holding my breath re the Swanscombe development (or whatever it's called these days), or even Gravesend's new stadium (haven't we been here before - at east twice??). But that's probably a good thing. Much as I hate visiting the current ground, there's nothing worse for atmosphere than a small club playing in a big stadium. Compare and contrast 3,000 supporters at JWW with the same number at (say) Barnet or Gateshead. Is/was it Queen of the South who played at Hampden Park? Queens Park. Av attendance last season about 925. Hampden Park capacity just under 52k! Had it been Queen of the South, it would have been slightly less silly, as their av attendance last season was just over 1,000. If memory serves (usual caveat), QP actually used to own Hampden Park, even though it was the national stadium (QP were the founding force of football in Scotland - according to Wikipedia, comparable to "Marylebone Cricket Club in cricket and The Royal and Ancient Golf Club of St Andrews in golf", and remained 100% amateur right up to about 2019). But, now the National Stadium is owned by the SFA, they are supposed to have moved to the HP reserve pitch next door and are developing that into a 1,700+ seat new stadium. So they days of their fans having to sit in a near empty stadium should be over. When I were but a lad, I was fascinated by Scotish Football, especially the 'strange' club names (Heart of Midlothian, Greenock Morton, Partick Thistle, Queen of the South, and, of course, the enigmatic Hamilton Academical!). But the clubs that really intrigued me was the combination of Queens Park and Rangers. But, of course, they hardly ever seemed to play each other in modern times, so it made my day (back in 2012, I think, or possibly in an earlier SFA Cup game?) when I finally saw Queen's Park v Rangers on a fixture list!

Maybe spending 18m on one promotion and a main stand is insane in your eyes, well, obviously it is to you, but I'm not sure the doc new it would take that long for promotion to happen, any league is not easy to get promoted from whatever you spend. Well if we gave you 18m, or, anyone else for that matter, that you would get instant promotion. Regarding The New Stand, I don't know of many people that actually do like it. Alas, we don't tell him how he should spend his money, I'm fairly positive many of us would have done things differently.

Bernie you forgot to mention the worst mistake, sacking Daryl after we had reached the playoffs the previous season. Awful decision that i will never get over

Morton FC's home town is Greenock but didn't change its name to Greenock Morton until 1994 - so unless you've been fibbing about your age you couldn't have been a lad at the time.
I always thought Greenock was a suburb of Glasgow but it isn't.
