Mousehole & Horndean promoted to SL1S (step 4) from the Western & Wessex leagues respectively. A round trip of 500 miles when they play each other, imagine that on a wet Tuesday night in Feb…thats like Sittingbourne going to Bridlington Town! Feels just plain wrong that the Blazers’ can’t get their act together and create a more workable structure in the south west; they almost managed it a few months ago, but in the end, directors of each of the respective leagues couldn’t agree a mutually acceptable compromise (turf war?) Instead, they’ll stand by and watch clubs suffer the financial pain, or drop out mid season (Bitton) yet they (different Blazers) can still relegate the likes of Lymington from SL1S for failing to install a second turnstile or not having enough covered seats for their average gate of 139 I agree with every word of that the main problem is that England is such a funny shaped country that in the SW 200 miles covers 3 counties whereas in the heart of England the same distance encompasses about 20 or more. I have always thought that with all the money the Premier league has the FA could take some of it and set up a travelling fund gor the lower leagues where, say a journey of 400 miles round trip the away club could apply to the fund for 50% of the expenses. This does not shorten the journey but would keep clubs like Bitton in business, though why I should wish that club well after providing me with one of the worst days in my football spectating days. You’re right of course, it’s a big geographical area and never going to be easy to please everyone, at the same time, there’s a lot of football played down there A traveling fund would be nice. Reminds me of an article I’ve just read in an old Stones programme from 26th Sept 1972 Ernie Morgan’s being interview by Gordon Carpenter, who’s asked Ernie about the trip they’d done to Bideford the previous Saturday in the Southern League - a 480 mile round trip, stadium to stadium by road, pretty much the aforementioned Horndean/Mousehole nightmare Ernie replied that it cost them £200 to transport 19 players & officials, by train & coach, as well as buying breakfast, lunch & dinner as they were away all day.

With nothing on TV and herself out, find myself watching Queen's Park v Patrick in the Scottish championship play off SF. Ok game so far, but more remarkable for being played in bright sunshine. Much better weather than we've had in Kent today and proof, if needed that it stays light longer up north at this time of year.

Relegated Herne Bay have announced Steve Lovell as there new manager. This ,alongside a new chairman, looks like things are stabilising at the Bay after a few weeks of utter turmoil.

Bit of irony in that somehow, what with his buddy Coyle leaving the Rams after losing to Watts’ Cannons in the playoffs

Fans of Southern league side Hednesford town have been calling for the head of the chairman and he has listened saying he will quit at the end of the season. He has put the club up for sale as well as the ground and has arranged a groundshare for next season if as expected the ground is bought by property developers and torn down. The supporters are now worried they'll have no football club next season.A lesson for our vocal supporters who want T&O out,be careful you may just get your wish. To update the story the prospective buyer of the club has pulled out of the deal leaving Hednesford to withdraw from the Northern Premier league West. It is hoped that they can rejoin the pyramid in the 24/25 season. Maybe their fans should have kept their mouths shut.

Hednesford Town have been saved and despite reigning from the league the FA have given them special dispensation to rejoin it for next season. Good news!😁
