I’d like someone to do a proper bit of journalism in the subject of part time v full time. The concept of getting the best of the part time players seems simple but is it really that simple? Wealdstone do have a lot of players on good money and they have had a cash injection but they are aiming to “go full time” themselves (I read up a little). Is this because they have league aspirations - otherwise why do they want to change? I want to know and I want someone to find out! Ho hum. We have done this topic to death - multiple times! But still we don't have an answer... The best I can get is that it's not full-time or part-time that matters, it's when training happens. 'Full-time' mostly just seems to mean daytime training - i.e. you can't train in the day if you have a day job, so you have to be 'full-time' at the club. This would suggest that the club then has to pay you a decent salary, so that you don't need to have another job to get by. But this in turn raises other questions. Like the fact that some players DO seem to have other jobs (eg. coaching, or even taxi driving - anything that can be done around a daytime training/travelling to games schedule). Also, calling it 'full-time' suggests that the players are paid enough to not need a second job - so does that mean we're paying 20 odd players (say) £30k a year each?? On top of all the other salaries and costs, how can we afford that?! And, if we are paying all the players that sort of money, I for one - as a pensioner ST holder - have a few questions to ask certain players!

Regarding support staff, I stood near the dugout for the second half to see what was going on. As well as Hak and Terry (the latter seemed to be making all the calls), there was a young chap with a laptop, who took the memory card from each player after they were subbed. There were also two more men sat outside the dugout - presumably not players - who may have been coaches, but didn't appear to actually do anything, apart from hand out drinks. Wonder what they do and, if we can afford them, why couldn't we afford Beth? Only just noticed this! Do players have memory cards?? Why? What do they do with them? Where do they insert them? I think they're a more sophisticated Fitbit type of thing. They collect the player stats and I think they're monitored constantly throughout the game. I remember Hak saying in an interview he could look at a screen and see when players' performance levels were down.

It's this - https://statsports.com They're live feed sports monitors that track everything from heart rate to the distance you run. £150 a pop for the basic vest.

All time discussion points…. 1) Is Worgs that good? 2) Would Millsy have made it in League football. 3) Part time v Full time You should add the all-time favourite: do STH still get counted of they don't attend the game?

1. Yes, though his kicking wasn't great 2. Absolutely. Mills was a class act 3. Depends. I believe there are many part time players (like Tom Mills) who are far more skilfull than their FT counterparts. However, at NL level, strength and fitness become just as important. Plus there are plenty of PT players who simply don't want to risk their day time jobs and career prospects on the lottery of FT football 4. No. Attendance should be how many people are there at the game. It is nonsense to include ST holders if they don't turn up.

I cleared this up a few years ago by the simple expedient of asking Bill, and yes attendance includes all season ticket holders regardless of actual presence at the game. And why not? If they've paid they should be counted.

Absolutely Dave. People use attendance figures to comment re potential budgets. Therefore it makes sense to count everyone who has PAID to watch a match.

As Dave says, Bill cleared this up ages ago. But anyone who sat in the MS Saturday knows only too well STs are counted even if their owners don't turn up!
2,329 home supporters? The Spitfire must have been very crowded...

Still don't agree, but that's just me.

Still don't agree, but that's just me. I think attendances may keep dropping so in a few weeks we'll be counting those looking out of an aeroplane window at 30,000ft.
