Not pretty but we are slowly seeing the team evolve. Every season is different..this one is about fighting for points and competing to stay up. Hak is up for the fight and we need a good FA Cup run to bring in some prize money that can go towards new players. We must play our strongest side next week or we will get turned over for sure.
Good crowd yesterday. I was surprised Alabi went off..he had a good game. And Ryan is pure class at this level.

Remarkable work by Stonestv to find anything worth repeating from yesterday afternoon. The penalty shout for Alabi on 30 mins was right in front of me at the Town End and the highlights show it really should have been given: as blatant a push as you will ever see. However, unfortunately, he had a poor game. Should be holding up the ball for others to get into the attack, but completely outplayed by the Fax defenders. Corne unable to offer much too, so largely left to Booty and Deacon to provide any inspiration. Should Hoyte have done better in the lead up to their goal? Possibly, but along with Ellul is our most consistent player and easily our most athletic. Not sure anyone else would have got away with being dumped into the Town End - and still came away smiling. Thinking about it, the game highlights the challenges for the rest of the season. Firstly, how we manage to break down and beat the teams around us, because (apart from Dorking) they be will all set up like Halifax. And secondly, how do we scramble a few points to against the top sides? Notts County next and somehow, think we are going to need 10-12 points against these teams, to make up for the ones we drop in games like yesterday.

Decent analysis that almost obscures the awful shite that the team played yesterday.

I'm happy that steve can take something positive from this shambles of a performance with the team evolving as he describes it. Against one of the very worst teams in the league, with them playing away from home after a long journey, we just about scrape a point, with a scrambled goal in added time. Our football was just plain horrible, with very little quality, class or creativity. A boring a match as it is possible to imagine. This is progress ? I'd rather watch paint dry.

It wasn't pretty but we're not suddenly a shit team, we're simply devoid of confidence. When you're on a bad run it's all about fine margins. We started well and if one of the early chances had gone in it would have been a different game. The pleasing thing was that having conceded we didn't fold. The subs, especially Christie made a huge difference and we started to cause them real problems. If the rest of the game had been like the 10 minutes leading up to the goal no one would have been saying we were shit because we actually started to play some football. Added time seemed to be two teams simply making sure they didn't lose.

Good old daveu, always finds something positive to say after another grim performance. If you can settle for yesterday's effort and be happy with it, then the season is likely to pan out pretty well

Am i the only one not to be overly surprised with where we are? I was arguably one of the few fans saying we needed to upgrade the squad in the summer, but time and again i met fans who felt our NLS squad was good enough. Because we all got to know the players so well fans didnt want to lose them. The love affair some fans have with Hadler is an example. We need a new keeper.. a Nathan Ashmore type. Hak has also been overly loyal in my opinion. What i mean be evolving is we cannot now change everything overnight. That was what the Clown did and we know how that ended. We will strengthen and I still think that if we do we will be fine. If we keep signing u23 children on loan it will be a long season. We need some experienced NL lumps!

Rumour is several of the squad have been transfer listed. Hadler and Fowler among them. Think Joe Euell a player I really rated will be on his way out as well he’s been awful. What a complete disgrace yesterday was, if we can’t beat a team like that, we’re down. Hakan has completely lost the dressing room mostly due to confidence of the current squad who aren’t good enough. Owners are just as much to blame and haven’t learnt a single thing from the previous experience in this division. I’ve supported for 16-17 years and seen bad times at the club but seeing how incompetent Casey and Ash are on the playing side recently is right up there with the worst. They don’t care. Summer recruitment was lacklustre as usual. They’ve sacked and scapegoated staff to cover up mistakes again. If they sack Hakan then I can see another Harry Wheeler situation, give him the funds and stop making excuses!

Massive overreaction from some fans. Yes it was dire, but most of that was down to lacking confidence. The fighting spirit was still there in spades, and no we're not as good as some teams in the division. But we're better than a few and we're better than yesterday's performance. After the run we've been on it's not surprising nerves and lack of confidence affected the players. They affected the crowd as well, haven't heard the Gallagher that quiet for ages.

Sure, let's spend money the club doesn't have shoring up the squad with players we can't afford. What a brilliant idea.

Agree with daveu mostly, but no question the team is low in confidence and the reason for that is some of the players are not good enough for this level. Most disppointing has been the quality of new signings. Sadly I have too agree the club just retained too many of last season's squad. The team does need strengthening now, probably with around 4 players to make a truly positive impact.

Because in some games, he's been the only player that's been worth the entry fee. Even as recently as Tuesday, without Joe we could have easily lost by 5+

The most important thing is we dont have a knee jerk reaction, with regard to Management. The last thing we need is another Clown situation. The very thought of that is a nightmare.

Completely agree there's no need for knee jerk reactions. I wonder how long it may take for the owners to start sweating though? It might be that if things are not looking rosier by Christmas, they might feel that they need to act, but God knows. Hoyte has looked suspect so far for me, unfortunately - had a woeful game vs Bromley, let two crosses come in against Boreham Wood that resulted in two goals and similar against Brentford. I love Gavin, but he's not had a great start to the season. Fingers crossed he can find form again.

Basically, what we desperately need for a bit of confidence is to pump Needham Market 7-0, but I can't see that happening...
