Then dont wear one,I dont and nobody has questioned me about it. You are old enough to be exempt. I'm also disabled. 'Unforunately', I don't look either. We need "don't look at me like that, I'm exempt" badges... What we need is ‘ Just leave me a Fcuk alone ‘ badges

Probably why the more totalitarian the state, the better they appear to be doing - though there is always New Zealand. Surely it's the opposite - the more totalitarian the state, the bigger the lies about infection rates. States such as Scotland, it now appears......

At last! Beating the Virus! So trumpets the banner headline in today's Daily Express. So that's alright then. The Star on the other hand want you to turn to page 17 to 'Look up Uranus'. For once, probably more accurate as it's something to do with the night sky.

Good to see this forum is starting to realise the lies behind many figures given about Covid by previously trustworthy sources, and realising that we have been misled in so many ways and that its time to stop being in such irrational fear anymore. In the early part of this so called pandemic the infamous Dr Fauci (Sounds like a Shakespearian bad guy to me!) and the WHO told us face masks were not useful against Covid-19 as the virus is too small for a mask to contain it and there was no point in the general population wearing them - NOW we have to wear them? Come on! Asthma and anxiety and lack of oxygen sufferers are (rightly) exempt - but surely Covid-19 is more deadly than those conditions? Why are they exempt? They are exempt because face masks are very bad for them - and they are for you. They actually make you ill as they are a hot bed for bugs. Then when we all get ill from all sorts of normal colds and flus and infections from wearing them the government can say the honey badger is too blame and lock us all up again! It really all is a crock.

Then when we all get ill from all sorts of normal colds and flus and infections from wearing them the government can say the honey badger is too blame and lock us all up again! It really all is a crock. It's not a conspiracy; it’s just panic and incompetence. They don't know what to do and lots of people want us to wear face masks "because the Koreans do and they're OK, aren't they?" So the government gives in and says "OK, wear facemasks" - because, after all, it's better to do something, even if it’s ineffective, than nothing - doing nothing makes you look like you don't know what you're doing - and we don't want that, do we? And anyway, it might just turn out to have been the right thing to do, and we'd look a right bunch of charlies if we'd said don't wear them... But the facts are quite clear: 1) The sort of masks most of us are wearing are totally ineffective, and may even be worse than not wearing a mask 2) We got the virus under control by not mixing with other people, personal hygiene, etc - thus reducing the chances of infection - not by wearing face masks (because we didn't!) 3) The virus clearly doesn’t spread by aerosol transmission (except when people are very close to each other) - if it did, we'd have all had it by now (if you can smell someone’s perfume/after-shave or cigarette smoke, you are close enough to get the virus - if it spreads by aerosol transmission). To keep the virus under control, we simply have to keep washing our hands, and maintaining social distancing. But the government is desperate to get the economy going again, kids back to school, etc, so they are just hoping that masks will be the magic answer. Strangely, it seems they aren't.

He probably reads the Daily Express, or simply chooses to believe what he wants to believe, rather than take a balanced, rational view. The latter is easy - the government are a bunch of tossers!😆😆😆

Tell you what NWS. You stay indoors in your own private little world, because as sure as anything, the rest of us are going to have to try and live as normal a life as possible. Gradual easing is clearly necessary otherwise you will never find out what works and what doesn't. If some restrictions have to be reimposed or some local lockdowns need to be implemented, then so be it, but the country can't stay locked down indefinitely. You could end up with mass unemployment and more people dying from malnutrition, or from delaying going to hospital for vital treatment, than will ever be killed by the virus. Despite your somewhat bizarre - but not unsurprisingly silly- conclusions to my analysis, I will continue to live a life that changed very little throughout lockdown. I'll keep going to work and do stuff that is mainly outside - walking in woods, by coast, dipping in the sea etc. You pat yourself on the back that you did something different for 3 months and then go back to going down the pub etc. and carry on as 'normal'. You don't need a mask in the pub cos covid don't operate there, people don't abandon social distancing. Make sure you wear it for the supermarket though because it does operate there. Keep listening to what Alex and co tell you because they have your best interests at heart. We've got our 'world beating' track and trace system now. Have had since June 1st if you'd been listening to PMQs...bwhahahaha

There have after all been outbreaks in thousands of pubs, haven't there? Or was it about three? No it was households. So go down the pub, drink plenty and cuddle everyone. You'll be fine. Just dont stick to visiting the same few people each week or covid will spread like wildfire. The government told us this from analysis using their 'world beating' track and trace system. I can't fathom out, based on their analysis, why they would be threatening to close pubs down. Somewhat contradictory.

Oddly enough, while I'm no great fan of the government I will continue to follow their advice because while they haven't exactly set the world alight with their handling of the crisis, they are clearly better informed than you.

Oddly enough, while I'm no great fan of the government I will continue to follow their advice because while they haven't exactly set the world alight with their handling of the crisis, they are clearly better informed than you. Yes. They are better informed than me. Quite why they continually choose to ignore that information and do things that harm people is thus a mystery. I would test everyone at airports - and would have been doing so since I became aware of the virus. Still they know best. I would have gone into lockdown earlier rather than pretended things weren't happening and given the thing an extra week or two to proliferate. Still they know best. I would have got a proper company with a proven track record of PPE acquisition to buy NHS masks rather than an offshore capital company suggested by a mate. Still they know best. Still, it is nice to see that the 'world beating' track and trace system will continue with Serco. Edward Agar worked for them didn't he? Yes, David, they are better informed than me but I still seem capable of better decision making. That is possibly because what I am saying is not corrupt and/or aimed at lining mine or close associates pockets. Oh and if you didn't notice, the claim that schoolkids don't spread covid isn't particularly true either. Still they know best. EDIT: Oh and if my sarcastic comment about 'world beating' track and trace don't make sense that is because our track and trace is a joke but Johsnson said a world beating one would be in place by June 1st. So now you are admitting that the PM you trust doesn't make sense. Now, to me, that really don't make sense.

Totally agree with all of nws comments.
But you forgot to add, if you are the PMs chief adviser and you get caught breaking the rules (Dominic Cummings) just say you needed to drive 30 mins to a castle to test your eyesight.....
Total bs from the gov from start to finish. 2m social distance now 1 plus. No face masks now one needed. Test and trace world beating yet actually non existent. Making it up as they go alone this gov

Sweden seems to be doing ok now Yes. 1. It all but closes down in the summer. 2. It now has more restrictions than France, Austria, Croatia. Norway and Finland. 3. It has lost its status as top 'deaths comparative to size of population' in Europe, to the UK (yay...winning}. It has gone through all that and some of their scientists reckon about 15% of the population have had it and it is nowhere near herd immunity. There is, of course, open debate about whether herd immunity can be achieved. You can read about Sweden here Sweden

Making it up as they go alone this gov I don't like right wing governments (that is fairly clear) but I generally stamp my feet, complain and carry on. This mob are a different breed. It is the complete indifference to honesty and the ease with which they do it that scares me. The idea that things were to be left to common sense was one of the most laughable bits of the whole lot. No Alex, you are meant to set rules and laws and insist people obey. As you say, it would be nice if he started with his boss advisor.
