Facts are neither positive or negative. They are facts. Johnson was all positive when he opened up the pubs. I'm sure those in the NW that didn't go but are in measures again feel the positivity of three weeks ago... The people in NW England have only been placed in Lockdown for their own protection,as someone told Boris that you were planning a visit in that direction. Only the ladies, Sword, only the ladies 😉😂

As the Daily Mail only print what they think the Tories will like, then it is not really a surprise. See that pubs v schools is now making the headlines too. Would schools Monday to Friday lunchtime and pubs Friday to Sunday work? Somehow doubt it. The problem is not the rules, but the inability of too many Joe Public to stick to them. Witness the hundreds of thousands descending on Dorset, Thanet, Camber etc. EXACTLY the same as the previous hot spell and no doubt they will repeat the exercise next weekend, when it is also going to be hot. Seems they have no imagination and no ability to think of alternatives. Given recent behaviours, you'd think most folk would go somewhere else. Bournemouth, Thanet etc are alright, but they are not so good that they are the only option. Fuckwits, but it is they who are causing the problems.

I went down to Hastings yesterday and I cannot complain at anyones behaviour people kept their distances and I was refused entrance to 2 pubs because they had reached their capacity despite looking to be only one third full and I saw nobody complain at being turned away . It can be done but like you say it only takes a handful of fuckwits to throw it all out of kilter.

Gaining entrance is not normally a problem, but I do occasionally get thrown out though it's been over a year since I got thrown out of the Gatehouse Tonbridge for lamping someone .

The Daily Mail is the prime reason I gave up reading newspapers The Mail, The Guardian, they're all the same, printing only what suits their political agenda. I haven't bought a newspaper for years with the exception of the KM and the NLP, and then only for Stones stories. I get my news from the BBC because you have to get it from somewhere, but even they can't claim to be free from self interest. You just have to take everything with a pinch of salt.

I get my news from the BBC because you have to get it from somewhere, but even they can't claim to be free from self interest. You just have to take everything with a pinch of salt. A common point of view, but not one supported by the facts. For instance, the Guardian often includes pieces from the 'other side' in their opinion section, and, although they will present a story (ie the headline) to support their political views/hopes, if you actually read the story, the facts are all there and fairly reported (so that the body of the story actually often doesn't match the headlines!). You can't say either of those things about the Mail. The Guardian, for all its faults, tries to put all the facts forward and acknowleges others' points of view, it is the closest we get these days (with the dumbing down of the Times and the right-wing lurch of the Telegraph) to a decent source of news. The Mail is just a propaganda sheet, and, in my opinion, far worse, deliberately pedals hate. As for the BBC, I've given up on them. They are too dependent on government funding to possibly remain neutral. They don't actually (so far) actively push the government's point of view, but they certainly down play the opposition's. The final straw for me was Brexit, when the opinion of half the country was simply ignored. The other problem for the BBC is this fiction of 'balance', when most of the 'news' is generated by an overwhelmingly right-wing press. The BBC desperately tries to maintain the 'status quo', on the assumption that that is neutral. But, unfortunately, the actual status quo in his country is based on a right of centre view point. And if the BBC ever tries for true balance, it is immediately attacked by the (mostly right-wing) media) as a bunch of Lefties!

The guardian used to have a wonderful and informative arts section that I used to enjoy reading but that's as far as my reading of the guardian went.

There is a partial truth in what you say, mainly in regards to pushing political agendas. To suggest the Guardian is in the same league as the Mail when it comes to lying and sensationalism...well, I never read such nonsense

I'd expect exactly the same response from the gammons who read the Mail and Torygraph. Just to point out I'm pretty much politically neutral do don't really have an axe to grind with any section of the press.
