Part of the reason why I go to the BBC for my news. Their reality check pages highlight the lies and half truths out there, including from the likes of Johnson and Trump. They also share the headlines from the main daily papers, where the differences in 'spin' can be quite astonishing at times. Anyone who thinks Covid19 is made up should go and live in Brazil or the USA, where they are not exactly doing very well, albeit still with less deaths per capita than Blighty...

They don't know what they're doing! The government, that is. Yet more proof in the latest debacle over quarantine for those in Spain. Maybe it is a devious plan to keep Grant Shapps out of the picture, but more likely just another knee jerk. If we can isolate Leicester, then presumably we can let the Spanish isolate in Catalonia and leave the Costas, Canaries and Balearics alone? Am all for control, but this is just stupid - and no I do not have a foreign holiday booked anywhere this year.

I do, the balance for our trip to Mallorca in October (booked last year) is due this week! What to do, what to do? It may be worth 14 days quarantine just to taste some foreign sun, sounds and sangria.

It may be worth 14 days quarantine just to taste some foreign sun, sounds and sangria. All depends on the company you booked with, my parents holiday in October to Hawaii has been cancelled by the operator and fully refunded, you may have the choice taken out of your hands. My dad and i do still have a few things lingering from last season as we had tickets for the following: Women's fa cup final Non league finals day Rugby league challenge cup final Two other sports events as well The women's one has been refunded and is now being played in October, the others no idea what is happening.

Your last entry is your last entry not the last word for you and everyone else. If you want to carry on chatting that's fine. If you don't then don't, that's also fine. Expect a comment if you post intentions and then do exactly the opposite. You will probably deny you have done this...it's fine...you need the practice when all those golden promises fall apart and the main actors are unmasked...

When the first easing of lockdown was announced, the doom mongers - including medical 'experts' and of course those political opponents of the government who, despite what they would have you believe, are using the virus to attack the Prime Minister and the Tories at every opportunity - said it was too soon and predicted a spike. It didn't happen. As each subsequent new round of easing has been announced, those same doom merchants have been hanging onto every bit of data that appears around three weeks later to see if there was a spike. So far, much to their disappointment, nothing. Even the newspapers, who send their photographers out to busy beaches to take photographs from an angle that makes it look like people are not social distancing - have been thwarted. Sooner or later, of course, it will happen. there will be a spike somewhere and the sharks will descend on the government, saying 'we told you so.' The fact they 'told us so' several times before, wrongly, won't be relevant because they will sweep those occasions under the rug. I cannot say for certain whether there will be a second wave. Nobody can, including those same medical professionals. Why? because they don't have a crystal ball. All they know, as we all do to be fair, is that cold winter weather can breed this kind of virus faster. The reality is, if the good weather lasts into October and the figures still keep going down - and yes, they might, despite the lockdown easing and what the sharks (who put political gain before people's lives) will tell you - we might get away without one. I know that's not what Labour, the SNP, the Lib Dems and The Guardian want to hear, but I honestly think we might get through. We'll see. Well my original post said Johnson was a muppet for his 'independence day' comments. That was 4th July. I can't help noticing that a large part of the NW is in measures again and other places teeter on the brink, including Ashford, Hythe and Thanet. How many weeks ago was 4th July? How has the weather been?

I know that's not what Labour, the SNP, the Lib Dems and The Guardian want to hear, but I honestly think we might get through. We'll see. Spot on and very well put. In fact the best post on the subject I've read on here so far. The "spikes" are happening in the form of localised outbreaks. Let's see where Leicester is in 2 weeks (OK still somewhere near Nottingham on the M1 probably...), or Merthyr Tydfil or Rochdale. Plenty of good reasons to restrict travel to and from Brazil, USA, India etc for several months to come, too. I'm still considering applying to work from home on a permanent basis - nothing gained by sitting in an office surrounded by people coughing, at any time of year. My next-door neighbour's had the "you have in the past had Coronavirus" test result - she had a cold with loss of taste in late February. That's when the damage was done. Over 3 weeks later and Leicester is still in lockdown with cases in the city above national average and the average for the surrounding areas.

Nws with your positive outlook you should be a BBC reporter. Facts are neither positive or negative. They are facts. Johnson was all positive when he opened up the pubs. I'm sure those in the NW that didn't go but are in measures again feel the positivity of three weeks ago...

The people in NW England have only been placed in Lockdown for their own protection,as someone told Boris that you were planning a visit in that direction.
