But why would the club want Mitchell Pinnock ? Been here, seen him, didn't make the grade. Scott Wagstaff, a 30 year old ex league journeyman, nothing special and not what we need now. As for Tommy Wood nothing suggest he is better than what we have but maybe swordy knows a bit more after his Tonbridge loan. Don't need changes for the sake of it. Local connections isn't everything I hardly think Mitchell Pinnock hasn't made the grade. In fact I would go as far to say he was probably Jay's biggest mistake in letting him go to early. After leaving us he spent a season on the bench at Dover under Chris Kinnear before being player of the season in playoff chasing Dover team. Then got his move to Afc Wimbledon where he has been a main stay of their team, picking up M.O.M awards and leading the team in assits. The only reason he has been let go is because of the current situation and has come to the end of his contract. Scott Wagstaff is hardly a journeyman. Played for 4 clubs all in Championship/League 1. I think he is just what we need right now. Someone who has got experience in midfield and can pass that onto the younger members of squad. He's still got a bit about him and can still play despite being the wrong side of 30 and he's local and knows what it means to play for Maidstone United . Tommy Wood as well as being on loan at Tonbridge where I think he scored something like 2 goals in 3 games, was also on loan at Leathhead where he scored 9 goals and formed a partnership with Ibby Olutade. Haven't seen him play heard good things about him the though. More of a realistic target I would think. If Tonbridge can afford him on loan then I imagine we could, even on a reduced budget from last year. At the end of the day no one really knows what way our board will go. Until it's confirmed then it's all speculation.

Wagstaff, and especially Mitchell Pinnock, would be punching above our weight signings for us so after doing so well at the Dons and Mitch is more likely to turn up at Priestfield than the Gallagher, but we can dream! Definitely one that Jay let slip through his fingers!
Would be good to keep Wishart too, but also unlikely. I think we need to be looking at the Manny Parrys more than the Mitch Pinnocks.

Manny Parry has been a regular starter in the league above for teams challenging for the playoffs.....there's very little chance hes dropping down a league to join us, specially when we will be cutting our budget & going back part time.

Fair point Raymondo, but we have seen quite a few players drop down a level or two before now and not necessarily set the World alight. Just don't think that having any sort of connection to the town is that important, I can think of other footballing and personal qualities that matter more, but it would be great to identify more closely with the team again.

Fair point Raymondo, but we have seen quite a few players drop down a level or two before now and not necessarily set the World alight. Too many in fact. So many have disappointed. With Stones cutting the wages bill and moving towards more of a part time status, some of the names mentioned are not realistic targets. Just don't think that having any sort of connection to the town is that important, I can think of other footballing and personal qualities that matter more. But it would be great to identify more closely with the team again. Wonder who are the 2 ex Stones players that are apparently lining up a return. If Worgs is not the 'fans favourite' on his way back, then who else ? That still allows for at least one other name but maybe not a 'legend'. Being local is a factor though Oliver said as much in an interview on Stones Live at the end of the season and has reiterated that in interviews since. The owners have said they want to give the team back to the fans. The only way that will happen is if the team is winning. Filling the team full of lads from the ryman league that gets spanked every week isn't going to do that. Everyone is saying the budget will be cut and that may be the case but i don't think it will be as drastic as some are making out. Certainly only paying one manager will help. We will still have one of the higher budgets in the league. Oh and the other player rumoured to be returning is BJT.

Yes I have heard the BJT rumour. It is a 100% true rumour, but probably only with about 1% of substance.

We cannot sign anyone until we have appointed a manager for the 2020/21 season.

The Office for National Statistics is now saying that approximately one person in every 1700 is infected with Covid 19. Therefore, as long as that person knows this, and stays away from the Gallagher on match days, the season can start as normal. If only...
