Wow put that on his cv. Went all out for 10 minutes against Dartford, that'll have 'em queueing up to the library to sign him. OK, he was easily the best player on the park at Concord away but that got obscured by a very nice Matt McClure goal, played well and scored a corker at Blackpool, excellent ten mins against Dartford that changed the game at that point. Other games I have seen him in he has looked decent, just his general touch, positioning, strength and tenacity. League clubs were queueing up with interest at one point, so they must have also seen what I see. Still, you know best, dear... Can i ask a question how do we know league clubs were queuing up to sign him, where/how did/does that information get leaked into a domain where we all just nod and say yeah league teams are queuing up to sign him?

Thankyou sword. Sorry to hear you were outside of the loop, so just to keep you updated. It is true that the car park at the time was awash with rumours about EFL scouts queuing up at at matches to watch Khan. Some seriously odd looking strangers were turning up, busy scribbling in their note pads and disappearing shortly before the end of matches. If you missed them I can only guess you were spending most of yer time in the Spitfire. But surely you must have heard about them, the talk was buzzing around the Gallagher. John Still was also talking it up last November/early December, never by name, but always by subtle hints and the rest. Don't you recall the number of occasions John said it was now club policy to develop young outstanding players and sell them on to the highest bidder? (well that worked well). The fact is Saidou was looking a very special talent at the time. The way he accelerated past opposition midfielders was as though he was a ghost. He was a different class. Serious sums were being quoted, a normally reliable source in the Tescos check-out queue at Grove Green shared with me that 300k was the figure being discussed. The club denied nothing. Then came Khan's injury just in time to coincide with the League transfer window. Transfer bids were put on hold. Probably cost the club some large numbers.

Same thing happened last year when we didn't sell Blair for reported £50k to Orient... and then he went and got injured. Players eh?

That reminds me of the time I attended a match at Dens Park, Dundee in May 1970 in the UEFA International Youth Tournament. Being a nerd, I was keeping a note of the scorers etc, when a flat capped local sidled up to me and said "Hey, Jimmy, you a scoot?". How we laughed! The result? Holland 6 (v d Kerkhof 2, 52; Rep 13 pen; Bleijenberg 35, 56; Marwijk 60) - Switzerland 1 (Muller 6) - Att. 3,200. So there were a lot of notes to be taken, and a real scout would have had a field day! There was a certain G. Souness in the Scotland squad.

With all due respect to Sword and his great Paul Foley post, this would get my vote for the Ultimate Forum Post!

Rumour has it that our first signing next year may be Lee Worgan. I am sure Steveh21 wont mind me nicking his possible scoop. It would be good to see him back.

It's a rumour from a good source but don't get too excited yet!

Whilst we are on the rumour merrygoround, how about the one that surfaced yesterday about JS1 on his way to Dover ? From another well known sauce. Hard to believe, but you never really know.
