On a personal level I’d love to see Chris here as I got to know him and his son a few years ago playing cricket with junior at The Mote and he is genuinely a lovely guy. What does the head say? Honestly, I don’t know. Dover fans used to moan about his liking for direct football but it did get results a lot of the time. We’ll see.

I note from the OS that we have 22 first steam players on the books. If times are hard and money is tight (which it will be when normal service resumes). Why not reduce this to 18 and use acadamy players to fill the bench when we are hit by injuries and suspensions?
As said yesterday we need to keep a recognised core and look for upgrades in certain areas - that 25 goal per season CF for example.

To be fair I think a lot of our players this season had trouble working up a sweat let alone steam.

Chris Kinnear was one of my fave players in black and amber back in the day, but wasn't he interviewed and rejected by Oliver and Terry as he had a big negative about 3G?

Strange thing is we have plenty of decent players I would be happy to see next season. Chris Lewington Gavin Hoyte George Elokobi Noah Chesmain Ryan Johnson Saidou Khan Sam Corne Zihni Temelci Ibby Akanbi Ibrahim Olutade I have left out Dan Wishart - he will want far too much money and probably Andre Boucard for the same reason. Not sure about Marshall, but he ain't that far away as a young centre back. But there may be a few on my retain list who we can't afford. If,as you lot kept telling me,Saidu Khan is worth any Wonga then sell him to boost the playing budget. I dont think he will attract the ludicrous sums some people were quoting earlier this season but 50K would help us out a bit. Why are you so dismissive of Saidou? The guy is a talent and before his injury plenty of EFL clubs were looking at him and for good reason. Nobody was talking 50k either. He is already on contract for next season and if he rediscovers his early season form, it is a win/win.

Too true Dan, Khan has plenty going for him with bags of pace and skill. He is the number 1 talent in the team, just disappointing that we didn't see much of it on his return from injury. Sword may not rate him but luckily the club doesnt underestimate the player or what he could be worth.

Seems a while back now but I did hear of a figure around 300k being mentioned. Ok the location of the source was in the check-out queue in Tescos at Grove Green. Admitedly it was overheard in conversation, but the source himself was very credible.

Whatever Khan's transfer value, given he's on contract to 2021, he should be one of the players returning next season. Even if his wage bill is on the high side, the club will be wary of releasing 'for nothing' somebody who could be worth plenty more than his wages.

He is a good player but he is not a great player. He has made his name with a cracking goal at Blackpool but there is an adage that says that one swallow doesnt make a summer.

I think it was 61666 in the player of the season thread who was saying therr is a lack of skill in the team, which results in lots of sideways passing and negative play. I agree, but that as been true with earlier Stones team too, even under our beloved Jay. Exceptions come to mind like Loza and Hines, but they were few and far between. Saidou does bring something extra to our midfield, just a shame he faded away last season.

Whats that bird song about sword ? Methinks you maybe a 'glass half-empty' sort of person. Saidou is a class act and I hope we see him back at the Gallagher in black & amber.
