Getting silly. We'll end up with fixture congestion just as we try to convert games in hand into points (Hendon 2015 anyone?)
If the NL had any gonads it would make 3G a condition of membership. Not only would this stop most postponements and raise the standard of grounds in the NL, it would also set up an 'interesting' situation with the EFL!

Never gonna happen if anything they are more likely to outlaw them to keep pro clubs happy. A friend of mine who lives down Wiltshire said Mondays game was postponed in an effort to keep the pitch playable for Saturday. The main problem at Hardenhuish is the slope which means the water may congregate in one big puddle at the bottom and the game could be called off with only 10% of the pitch unplayable. Storm Dennis is coming and with it 2-3inches of rain but it's all down to timing so we may get away with it. 60 mph winds also expected so ,depending whether it blows up or down the slope,it could be the proverbial game of 2 halves.

That's another thing that should be banned at our level - sloping pitches. They've always puzzled me, because they are invariably man-made (i.e. they didn't just pick a sloping field to build a stadium on). If you can clear and level a piece of land to within a few degrees of level, why can't you spnd a few extra quid and atually make it properly level?!

If you have a sloping pitch there is a 30% chance that it has been laid on top of an old plague pit.Would you take the risk of digging down to level it up.

It's pissing it down from 10am in Chippenham on Saturday, with 50mph gales for the match. Sod fixture congestion and play another day.

You ban sloping pitches and that's three teams off the top of my head that would be fucked. (Havant, Tonbridge and Chippenham, there might be others if i can be bothered to think about it). I like the 3g model, but it would mean the clubs who don't have it having to find the money to do it and let's be honest any non league team with cash to burn would be spending it on something. We are in non league football, we have to expect to play on sloping pitches and mud heaps, hell if we had the slots available then we could hire our ground out to Tonbridge to play their home games there (similar to Crowborough a few years back). Let's remember other teams allowed us to groundshare when we were in our wilderness, we're lucky to have the ground we have today and instead of throwing around things like banning this ground and that why not help our fellow teams out. We could be in Basingstokes position with a property developer digging up the pitch despite there being a covenant that means that the only thing on that site for at least the next 15 years is a football ground.

That's the NL problem in a nutshell - is it non-league or is it L3/Div5? In the NL itself, it clearly thinks it's effectively part of the EFL, whereas at the IP/SP/NP (or whatever they're called these days) it's clearly still non-league, but here in the NS, we don't really know what we are. Have Basingstoke actually lost their ground, despite the covenant?

It doesn't take much (well, it can actually take a lot, but the profit still to be made by a developer is enormous) to buy off a covenant, if the beneficiary can be identified. Often the land benefitting has been split up into multiple holdings, so each individual claim for compensation, based upon how they have been adversely affected, is usually pretty low. So the developer can then buy an indemnity insurance policy to protect against claims from people claiming to have the benefit of the covenant. And if its effect is limited in time eg to the 15 years quoted, that reduces the value of the claim too. So send the diggers in, toot sweet!

First game off in the National League South tomorrow is Eastbourne Borough vs Wealdstone.
On checking the twitter feed that made the announcement the following appears as the 'reason'
"National league and ref were concerned for travelling away team and fans".
Anything special expected for Eastbourne from Dennis?
EDIT: Especially, as I've just been reminded, with Eastbourne having a 3G pitch.
