I guess much depends on how the NL clubs fair over the lockdown. If Dover have run out of money, how are the rest doing? The NL had become the buffer zone between the full time FL2 and the, mostly, part time NLN/S. In the short term, will the NL go more part time, out of necessity? Perhaps the common sense thing to do would be for the TV and franchise money to be cascaded downwards, so there was funding to help clubs that are struggling, all the way down the pyramid. That would mean premier League players having to take a wage cut of course, but many could afford to drop 10k a week and not miss it. If it was done pro rata down the leagues, smaller clubs would survive and while the top players could still aspire to be filthy rich, they wouldn't get filthy, dirty, obscenely rich like now. Trouble with that scenario is when did common sense apply where wealth is concerned? I'll vote for yer

Making NL the 5th division would only increase wages and subsidies in the Naional North and South leagues. And probably the leagues below them.

What about 4 up - 4 down - 2 each into a regionalised NL (north and south)?
I'm not a fan of regionalisation at the top of non-league, as it doesn't feel like a 'proper' league. After all, the whole point of the Alliance/Conference was to prove non-league could work nationally and was therefore worthy of being taken seriously by the FL.
But it's been a constant topic of discussion for decades (even before the Alliance, there was often talk of regionalising Div 4), mainly because it saves money and helps to keep clubs afloat. And, if there was ever a time to consider that very seriously, it could be now.

So, Barcelona's players are taking a 70% paycut, to allow funds to be spent elsewhere. Lesson for our premier League clubs, methinks - and the rest of the pyramid too. Proportionally, course.

What a complete cop-out! No decision at all really, just continuation of the current utter confusion. What are clubs with players contracts about to run out supposed to do??

Maybe, but in these troubled times what will be the benefits of moving from NL to L2? Normally, it would be increased TV and sponsor money, with a few more on the gate too. However, this will be balanced with increased wages, police and stewarding costs etc. Not hard to assume that there will be less money around for things like sponsorship, while we are all likely to be paying more tax to cover the cost of Billy Ray (or should it be Miley?). Yes, teams and their supporters want to play at a higher level, but in the case of a club like Barrow, maybe it is a case of being careful what you wish for?

Interesting to note that EUFA won't accept the abandonment of top divisions before April 23, so maybe the leagues haven't done anything yet because their hands are tied.

Fleet release 7 players: www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/52560685Not actually going until the end of the month though - just in case (the FA deadline for games to be played - eg NL playoffs - is 1/6). Wonder how those players will feel if the playoffs do go ahead, knowing that they are jobless just a few days later? I guess it's a minor problem compared to much of what's going on at the moment - but there's going to be a lot of young lads who know nothing but football, and some of them at the peak of their career, left with no job, no income, and very few prospects.

Nothing controversial about the 7. 2 were away on loan all season. 2 were injury prone and the other 3 were not regular starters. If we recruit 7 better players, which won't be too difficult, we should be ok. King will be a miss, but he retiredaged 35 after 700 matches to take over the family business. All we need is the league to be kind.
