Thinking about it, surely the club could source some temporary stand to put down the riverside ? A lot of race tracks put up temporary grand stands for big motorsport events. So surely there is some stands available that would be worth trying to see how busy a stand or 2 stands either side of the new TV ganrty could be. I think some of the issues come from the increase in attendance, it means you need more turnstiles & exits at points to accommodate. Not sure it’s as simple as putting something up (especially without moving the fence)

I dont think the capacity would increase much, so surely we have plenty of turnstiles for it. It should be more about making it a better experience for all, which will help increase the attendance to nearer the capacity.

It’s all health and safety regs that hold these things back unfortunately. X amount of exits and turnstiles for an area that holds x amount. I agree I’d be happy for a temporary stand down that side but I reckon there’s just way more hoops to jump through than we appreciate

I'm just reading that the top 16 of the NL and the top 16 of EFL will be competing in a midweek cup consisting of 8 groups 0f 4 with each group winner progressing to the quarter finals which become knockouts. It didn't mention regionalisation but I'm sure it must be,Barrow v Eastleigh and vice versa on a Tuesday night in front of barely a few hundred saddo's with nothing better to do,rather them than me.

I thought it was top 16 national league teams plus the top 16 teams in the U21 premier league. Still a load of sheet.

You are probably right,ì got bored reading it to be honest, glad it doesn't affect us this season anyway.

For what it's worth, Boston are promoted from the NLNorth. Doubt if anyone here actually gives a shit though.

I do (slightly) as my brother in law comes from there. I was able to attend our match up there in the Conference one year (1982, I checked my exercise book), and took a first generation video recorder - the ten minutes or so I recorded were an accurate reflection of a dire match which we lost 1 - 0. But at least I got to see the Boston Stump.

I'll add it to the soap ingredients thing you told me years ago (I just wish I could remember what you told me)

For what it's worth, Boston are promoted from the NLNorth. Doubt if anyone here actually gives a shit though. Our big rivals in 88/89, the season we were promoted - neck and neck right up to the wire. They slipped up right at the end and it finished with us as Champions and Boston 3rd. 2nd were the eternal bridesmaids, Kettering - one of their four second place finishes (eight top-five finishes in 22 seasons, but never made it to 1st). That turned out to be Boston's peak, the following 2 seasons they were 18th, and were relegated 2 seasons later. They made it back to the the Conference eight years later, and were promoted to the FL the following year. But they went into administration six seasons later and were double relegated by both the FL and the NL to NLN - and then relegated again the following season for still being in administration. This will be their first time back in the NL since 2002.

Oh well, good for them. It will be interesting to see how they (and the other three promoted side) get on. Near neighbours Kings Lynn certainly didn't fare well. Way back in the day, Boston were the highest level opponents I ever played against. They used an all weather pitch at a local sports centre and my student team ended up having to share one evening. We had some decent players, but couldn't get near them. Didn't stop their manager (seem to remember it was Colin Addison) effing and blinding at them the whole time.

Bromley promoted to the Football League after extra time and penalties.
Gillingham have a “Kent” derby at last. We cudda bin contendahs.
Edit. Surprised we haven’t had more comments comparing our differing league trajectories since we were semi-rivals years ago.

Two 'Kent' sides in the EFL then, lol. Guess Bromley keep the southern flag flying after Sutton's relegation, but fairly sure many round here will not be missing them, while our old stand stays in the NL for at least another season.
