I was thinking about the old stand. Wouldn't a similar one down by the riverside of the pitch be useful now.

Halfway line to the corner with the town end could be the away end (there is already an exit gate and turnstiles in that corner), the gantry could form part of a much more effective segregation barrier. There would then be access to all other parts of the ground for Stones fans. There is access from the Genco to the town end/spitfire lounge etc in front of the main stand.

Hmmm, so obvious, it's amazing no one has suggested that before...

I like you're idea of having the town end for away fans but if Dave U and Tim are correct that that's not possible surely giving away fans that corner is a reasonable alternative. Would we even maybe be allowed to get away with just giving flat standing area to away fans?

We should just give them the trees. Maybe even build a treehouse for corporate visitors.

Was wondering why thoughts are appearing on this thread, then saw all the bickering on the other one... Anyway, wonder if giving the Riverside to away support might work? Section of seating one side of the gantry and standing on the other, or just let them stand? Open the burger cabin at the Genco end and make the turnstiles at the town end, by the river, just for away support. Might need to shuffle the cabins at the town end (new toilets there means something happening anyway), plus proper barriers to keep away fans safe from our mob, otherwise Robert is your father's brother? Or not..? Must be all sorts of reasons, separate toilets for one, but another, small, positive is that the usual 30-100 away fans can easily change ends for each half.

I'm not that keen on giving away fans a shit experience. OK, so it's what we get in some grounds, but others are very good to away fans. And I'd rather we were one of those clubs.

Having been treated like shit at several grounds I have to agree we need to up our game in this department. Having been treated like shit by our own club we could do with improving that as well or my long awaited return will be shortlived. Yes I can all hear you cheering.

Turn up early and you can have one of the seats in the old away section.

It's good to have singing sections under a roof or the atmosphere dies a bit (aka Worthing)

I do (slightly) as my brother in law comes from there. I was able to attend our match up there in the Conference one year (1982, I checked my exercise book), and took a first generation video recorder - the ten minutes or so I recorded were an accurate reflection of a dire match which we lost 1 - 0. But at least I got to see the Boston Stump. I've worked in Boston twice but had to look up the Boston Stomp. Thanks for the education. I'll add it to the soap ingredients thing you told me years ago (I just wish I could remember what you told me) How could you forget? It was lye (as in Danny of that ilk) that is a constituent of soap.

Southend United transfer embargoed again. Will it ever end?
