"The greatest happiness of the greatest number is the foundation of all morals and legislation" so apparently said by one philosopher (benthem?)many yonks ago and always kinda went with it.
Whether it applies to this situation in particular have my doubts though?!?

For what it's worth, and I admit it's too late to implement, but tickets sales for saturday's game should have been sold thus: 1st: Season Ticket Holders (VP, Seats & Ground) 2nd: Non-season ticket holders on production of a semi-final ticket - 1 ticket for 1 ticket, so no need for kids, wives etc to have to queue up. 3rd: General Sale to non-attendees at the semi-final game. Whilst I went to the semi, have only been to a handful of home games this season. Having said that, have been going to stones matches since the county league days. With this in mind, it's impossible to classify how loyal one person is from the next. You got behind the club when the chips were really down, Nigel, and kept going for years, even when it was dire. That is loyalty. Waiting until the glory game at the end of the season is not loyalty. People who have started going this season but have bought season tickets and/or gone to most games are also showing loyalty.

A completely fair system will never be achieved, however Ragstone's solution is perhaps the fairest I have read so far.
maybe season tickets holders could have had longer than 24 hours to get their tickets, due to work committments etc. If Season tickets were numbered in the future then at least tickets could be held for them for say 48 hours before being released if not claimed.

Regarding season tickets holders especially the ones in the stand there were around 40 not claimed when they went on genaral sale. These were held over until the Thursday around 10. The ones that were unclaimed after that were then sold to people who turned up after the sale out and registered their name incase any became available. I was there Wednesday night and explained to a fair few people to register there details but some were not bothered. The ones that did and were at the top of the list got lucky.

Had a quick nose around the ground on my way home today, to see if there was any way of watching the game from outside the stadium, and, unless you happen to live in that block of flats, there isn't. Someone has seemingly gone to a lot of trouble to make sure the fence is just high enough all the way round so that, no matter where you stand, you can't see the pitch.
The only way you can see the pitch at all is to stand by the dual carriageway at the top of the bank, but even then you have to go a long way from the stadium, so how much you'd actually get to see is debateable.
One thing I did discover, though, which I never knew from just going to games, is that there's a large area behind the Springfield end fence that seems to be part of the ground, but isn't being used (as far as I could tell). If this land belongs to us and isn't required for any other purpose, then they could build a pretty meaty stand at that end of the pitch.
Obviously one for the far future, but it's nice to know that we do (apparently) have a fair bit of expansion room for when we get back in the League.

There's only one place you can see the pitch at all, and now the bushes are leafing up, even that's getting difficult. Of course, you could trample the bushes down all over the bank, but do we really want to condone that sort of behaviour?
KM headline: "Stones fans destroy riverbank"...

John
The piece of land behind the springfield end is a "Nature run" or so i`m led to believe.
As regards viewing from outside the ground, a double decker bus might be the answer.

Think I read somewhere that that land has to be left clear for wildlife! Not sure if that was true or just someone's opinion. I agree however that if we can at some point develop that end, then together with the space for expansion at the town end there is good potential on the site. I would guess however that access in & out would also need to improve dramatically.

The land at the Springfield end had to be left undeveloped as part of our planning permission. It's a legacy left over from the Greater Crested Newts debacle.

That bit of land is entirely enclosed in 3 meter high fences and a solid, equally high, wall - with no gaps. Any wildlife in there that can't fly is buggered!

I used to watch the ground being built from the bridge ramp by the river.
A crate to stand on would probably do the trick, unless foliage has taken over.
