Highlights suggest it probably was a penalty, but certainly a strange and unnecessary one. They also suggest it was a really exciting game, though clearly it wasn't! A case of two sides cancelling each other out? Maybe, but that is where managers and subs are meant to change things. To be fair, we nearly did and if Stones took 80 odd minutes to get a shot on target, Farnborough didn't do much better, but all in all, not much fun for those who paid to attend. Such can be the nature of football.

Well it may have been a penalty. Replay didn't show the best of angles. If it wasa penalty, what a gift ! We had possession close to the goal-line with no threat at all. Agree it was a poor game with precious little excitement until the last 10 minutes. Not sure we deserved more than a draw.

Says all you need to know about that game that the second half starts earlier than 2 minutes into the 9 minute video!
Impossible to tell if that was a pen from that angle, but you can see why the ref gave it. But I'm still not happy with Covolan - what exactly was he doing? Aransibia has the ball under control by the time Covolan lunges, in fact it's still under his control afterwards. But had he not got the ball, and Covolan hadn't got to it either (which looks likely from the video), then the goal would have been wide open for the Farnborough No 10.
Still, pen or not, we should have had the game sewn up by then - Farnborough were one of the worst sides I've seen at JWW in years. But we lost the game in the first 60 minutes because George chose to play Gbode instead of Sol. OK, rest your key players for an 'easy' game, try your 'new' man out, but do it the other way round, then, when we're comfortable, take Sol off. It should have been obvious to George, well before half-time, that not only was Gbode not adding anything to the game, Sol's absense had taken the spark out of our game completely.

Still, not time to PANIC, just yet - we are actually doing exactly as well, 12 games in, as we were in Jay's NS promotion season - and we're 3 places better than we were after 12 games the season we won the NS. (click on image)

Weren't we supposed to be in a new era of club-to-fan communication, where we were kept up-to-date on things like this? WRT to club communications then one would at least expect them to spell Aransibia's name correctly in the OS match report rather than Aransiba/ Aransabi (which I thought was a hot spice to add to sushi)! Even on the OS homepage the league table is incorrect in showing Yeovil on 23 points - time to hand the OS management over to a grown up or at least a sub-editor?

I’m happy to drop a couple of points to Farnborough, although the late rally was a nice touch. It would be nice to pretend we are interested in promotion, but let’s quietly slip down the table once in a while. Rejoining the National League would be an absolute disaster.

How can a real supporter ever want the team not to win. What an utterly ridiculous thing to say. Far far better to be a yo-yo club than one with absolutely zero ambition.

Even if it means we make regular losses and risk having no club?
So much for “real supporter”.

Even if it means we make regular losses and risk having no club? So much for “real supporter”. For two seasons Jay Saunders proved we could survive in the NL. If it hadn’t been for the distraction of his potential move to Macclesfield we would probably have survived the third. Other clubs with similar resources do OK, Wealdstone and Maidenhead for example. Last season was a disaster because the board took their eye of the ball. There’s no reason why we should make a loss because we get promoted, and if that means we aren’t good enough to stay up the so be it. But at least we can not hope the club deliberately lose games to avoid promotion.

Nobody is asking the club to deliberately lose games. It’s just not the end of the world if we lose one now and again. That way lies Facebook group madness.

If we managed to go up, how many players would make the step up from our current team? Not too many.
