Shame about Sol not starting. His form has been brilliant and when he did appear eventually, what a difference !

Couldn't be there and unable to follow on SL either. The KM report reads far more positively than posts here, so who is right, I wonder? The Sol decision seems very strange, mind. George seems fairly happy in the post match interview. Hints at being ready for Welling on Tuesday, so maybe he was playing a longer game today? As others have already said though, no team has yet to put their stamp on this league, so who knows how it will pan out.

Hate to do it, but I have to agree with you. Starting with an 18 year old loanee from Gills in front of an in form Wanjau Smith didn't make sense, esp when the ref gave a free kick every time someone fell over. Sol has much more football intelligence and asked a lot more questions of their defence when he came on. Had we started with Sol, we'd be 2nd, just 2 points off the leaders. A crazy decision that nearly threw the game away. We didn't "persevere", we wasted a good opportunity. Well, we did persevere, that's what got us a point in the end. If we hadn't persevered, we'd have lost 1-0.

We didn't get a shot on target until 86th minute. Baffling that Sol was on the bench. He put pressure on them at least, when he came on. Not great today but we persevered and got a point. Sol was simply prepared to niggle, harrass and chase them down more. The pressure made the difference. He started to win corners when previously they'd run out for goal kicks etc.

What has happened to Conor Kelly? Is he injured?

The opinion around me was that George was rotating the squad because of the busy schedule of games coming up. If I’d been in charge I’d have left Gdobe on and subbed Amantchi. Just as well I’m not!

Of course he is managing work load. Sol has proven himself to be fairly brittle so it’s imperative to work on giving him a rest regularly.
This is why we have a squad.
We are in 3 cups and a heavy league campaign. As to why he started Sol against Gillingham instead, well that’s all up for debate.

We started well and finished well. The 70 minutes in between was the worst we’ve played all season. Just about deserved the equaliser but anything more would have been harsh on a side we should have beaten easily. I was well impressed with their 25 but other than that they were nothing.
Can someone shed some light on the penalty. To me it looked like Covolan was already on the ground and their forward chose to fall over him. Just confirms my opinion that there is no luck and shit decisions even out over the season.

Fair summary daveu, but I would mention their number 8 who had a very good match at centre back. As you say we started well enough but after about 15 minutes Farnborough were more than matching us. Just not enough intensity with the oppo winning most of the loose stuff. Tbh not pretty to watch, so many long balls, little sign of decent passing. Stones fitness and attitude told in the end, just about deserving an equaliser and very nearly stole it. No idea what happened about the penalty. No real danger, it was a gift.

You had a better view of the pen than me and I didn't have my glasses on, so I've no clear idea of what happened, but I don't understand what Covolan was doing. It didn't look particularly dangerous to me, nothing that he and the defence couldn't handle easily, but he seemed way out of position. And, perhaps because of that, he panicked and ended up giving away a pen? Having only recently looked up his career, and noticing just how often he'd screwed it up by rash actions, I initially wondered if it had been one of his 'moments', but I think it was more likely just a cockup. No doubt the highlights (in as much as there were any) will show something completely different!

No doubt the highlights (in as much as there were any) will show something completely different! It looked like a miscommunication between covolan and the defender. I thought he had it covered and the defender took it away from him, then the forward deliberately tripped over covolan who was already on the ground.

What has happened to Conor Kelly? Is he injured? I was wondering that as well Hongkong doesn't seem to have figured since the Winchester game when Corne came on and subbed him.

Weren't we supposed to be in a new era of club-to-fan communication, where we were kept up-to-date on things like this?
