I wondered about that, but I'm sure I remember it originally having a capacity of just over 1,900. It was built to have a capacity of 3000 but we could only get a safety certificate for 2200. If there was ever a possibility that it would be less than 2000 it was certainly resolved before it opened with a sell out of 2200 against Brighton. Sounds right. But I've got this number of 1,986, or something like that, in my head, which is still puzzling me!

I believe there were occasions when capacity was reached, but the decision was taken to allow more in rather than turn them away. Maybe that was less problematic than crowds of unhappy fans outside.

Indeed that would have been the Dulwich Hamlet game when there was close to 3000 in attendance but the club soon with the police agreed to cram everyone in. I wonder if they were South Yorkshire police on secondment.

Would be nice to get over three thousand for a league game again. It would be nicer if we had a consistent run of decent performances at home in the league again.
Of the two options I know which one I'd prefer to happen first.

Alas, no one knows. The owners statement said he was going to be around for years to come. The ground was supposed to have been finished. The hotel end has been put back, put back, put back. The Theme Park gets problems after problems, this was his baby. All us fans are now playing a waiting game. Your owner's company is unbelievably wealthy, as I am sure you know. The list of real estate assets they own is jaw-dropping. I struggle to believe that he could not keep bankrolling the club if he wanted to. In the grander scheme of what his company does, Ebbsfleet and the money spent on it is chicken feed. Hence the question of why the club is struggling for cashflow. Presumably despite that statement about him being there for years to come, he has decided to stop giving you what you need. If he is giving up on you, he needs to come clean. There's always Varney. The strange thing is, for someone who is supposedly not interested in Ebbsfleet, he's often seen at away games, as well as home ones. At the end of the day, the faithful will continue to go no matter what league we end up in, if that happens of course. We all know of your troubles in the past, and we've had some as well, but the game is just as enjoyable in the lower leagues, if the worse should happen, personally, and hopefully, I think we'll be ok.......... I hope to see a few of you on Tuesday.
