I thought we had. Didn't Oliver say in the programme that he and Terry couldn't afford to fund any new stand themselves, so required new investment?

If your figures are accurate then the new riverside stand will take our capacity down to 3300 from 4100 . Building the riverside stand would result in pretty much the same capacity as we have now. As per usual some people are forgetting that the FL will not include pitch side standing in the official capacity required at the end of your first season in League 2, which is 5,000. You can chew over the figures about who goes where all day long - the fact is, as someone else said, only a whacking great stand at the town end will bring us up to FL standard. It is sensible for the directors to go for 6,000 as that would secure the longer term future for the club on our present site should more success follow on the pitch, plus it allows you to pack 'em in if you get a big cup game e.g. To build a stadium for the Football League, we need a new investor with a million quid in their pocket, or some other clever scheme to get that sort of money. That is the bottom line. Let's see what they cone up with.

I don't think Oliver & Terry have the money to do the needed ground improvements for a football league stadium, let alone fund a player budget to challenge for promotion. So unless we get a new investor or owners i can't see us getting promoted out this league....lets be realistic this Riverside stand ain't happening anytime soon.

I think it's four rows of seats, so a really good cup run might be enough.

Too many here have never studied Greek mythology - We are not and with never be the Icarus of non league clubs. We have owners who learn from our own history. So if we are not Icarus does that make us Daedalus (the smart dude - engineer of course)? If so, after the trauma and tears we will be bestowed with our wings to fly with the gods!

I think it's four rows of seats, so a really good cup run might be enough. At the end of the day the Riverside stand will be useful but it small fry compared to getting the funding for the Town End. The longer term future of the club will depend on getting the money for that. The Riverside stand will not get us anywhere near to the capacity we need for the FL. All it will do is help us achieve the required number of seats and potentially bring in more revenue in terms of 'seat sales' and season tickets. I have wondered if it would be better not to bother with it and put the money towards the longer term goal of building a two-tier stand at the town end with some seats, some standing. If the club had some sort of lump to put towards it, it would be more likely to attract an investor. Obviously what we need is a run to the third round of the cup, and then Manchester City away. That'll do it. If any players / management are reading this, what better incentive could you have for pulling out a couple of big results!

Out of interest, what's happening with your ground? The Main Stand is built and open terrace refurbished. Is the Travelodge end going ahead? Shame they didn't put the Main Stand where the wooden stand is, then refurbish the covered terrace opposite.

I,m sure to get slated for this but IMO we need to build a team that will help us build security in this league before we start to worry to much about building new stands to conform to a league level, as it will be a few seasons before we are anywhere near ready for the football league. Security in this league will help build funds plus also might encourage another investor to come in an help push the club on to the next level.

Amen to that, glad I’m not the only who thinks like this

We found ourselves in this league early and had to play catch up. I don't want us to be the worst ground in the EFL (after Priestfield). In an ideal business plan, the two go hand in hand, rather than one or the other.

In most cases your right barnabus, but in this situation I would rather have league security than have the best ground in the National South. We need to stabalise ourselves build the foundations for a good solid push for promotion over the next few years, and along the way build a fund that can pay for developments without having to rely on outside investors or a good cup run.
