Agreed, but the rub of the green has been sadly lacking for some time now, indeed most of the time. One can only wonder when things might start to go out way for a change!

Jesus whatever happened to the ref being in charge of a game, the golden rule I used to teach the kids as they started playing club football, is the ref is always in charge an always play to the whistle. Yes a ref is only human an will make mistakes, because sadly he does not have the advantage of replays, over the course of a season we will win some an lose some. The problem with football is that there is no respect for the referee, every decision he makes there is a crowd of players around him, When I was growing up I played football (badly) and then concentrated on playing rugby ( I was slightly better ) when the ref blew the whistle for any infringement the only person who could approach the ref was the captain, if anybody gave him any lip or questioned his decision, the ref would push the game forward 10m believe me the rest of the team stopped whoever was mouthing off, this is the only way things will change however if any youngsters watch top level football what do they see, players surrounding the ref, it’s a vicious circle that needs to be stamped out, however I can’t see it ever changing

Football fans would be up in arms if players started picking up cards for dissent (although I would love to see it happen to try and stamp it out of the game as you suggest).

100% with all those I have spoken to and that is both Stones and Orient supporters The referee is undoubtedly qualified but is fallible and on this occasion got it wrong, big time ! Why should you want to side with a decision that was just plain 'barking' ? Perhaps you should look more carefully at the replay as contact in the box is crystal clear Pretty obvious it was a stone bonker penalty or if you like 'nailed on ' So no number will be forthcoming I am guessing. If you wish to look at what is barking then consider your third sentence. Why do people think that contact in the box automatically means a penalty? This is not a basketball forum. I have not said anything about no contact. The 100% of however many you (are too coy to say) spoke to are unqualified and also fallible. Pretty obvious it was not a nailed on penalty but if you and your newly invented friends from Orient wish to think it was then fine. I did say I was happy to agree to disagree. You just seem intent on arguing the point.

Good post toonarmy! Respect went out of the game and life generally when National Service finished in the early sixties! I agree with Mr Toon. Decisions don't always go your way but the vilification that seems to be dished out to a referee just because people disagree is utterly disproportionate to what said decision means. I find it amazing that rich people and corporations seem to be able to lie and con people without any anger being raised. If a referee doesn't give a penalty to your team on a Saturday afternoon he becomes all manner of things and deserves to die. People need to think about which of the two 'crimes' will affect their life more.

it is of course your prerogative to ignore the obvious at the same time as attempting to deflect arguments towards extraneous detail , but we are rapidly coming towards the end of 2017 so time to let go !
wishing you all the best for the New Year !

wishing you all the best for the New Year ! I have felt the same on this thread with you. You may note that one of my posts (quite a few ago) said we will have to agree to disagree but you chose to keep going. You cannot then complain about someone doing something as petty as asking you what you are actually talking about. You stated (seeming to think it was absolute proof that I was wrong) that all these Leyton Orient fans you spoke to agreed with you. It is not extraneous detail to ask how many you refer to. It's a really simple question. If it is 'extraneous detail' then why won't you answer? If I didn't know you so well from your 'car park talk' days I would think you had made it up in Trumpesque fashion. Now agree to disagree or keep going...your choice Happy New Year.
