Changing the manager is not a good idea. We have slipped in the league but done well in the cups and are still where many predicted we would be at the end of the season. It is also worth remembering that we have 2 games in hand on a lot of the clubs above us. The team is a work in progress and we are not ready for promotion on or off the pitch. The plan must be to continue with the improvement of the team by signing better players as they become available. On the pitch all to often we seem to get the ball on the half way line then pass it around until it gets back to Worgs who under pressure just boots it to the opposition. Our wide players rarely get the ball in a position where they can have a run and cross the ball. Collins hardly had a pass after coming on. The result is most balls are pumped down the middle to Pigs who is marked by 2 players. Stu is a great player and works his socks off but he cannot shoot in fact so many players are goal shy, preferring to pass. A couple of class signings could boost confidence and get us going again.

They didn't take that many to their local derby against Haringey. I suspect Christmas shopping and poor league form would have deterred many Orient fans from travelling. I assume it is a police decision to have so many all-ticket matches in such a short period. Don't think Orient are known for hooliganism, except when being relegated from the Football League. The Haringey game put many people off due to the lack of trains and parking, remember most of the Os fans don’t live in the Leyton area but all over Essex, Herts Kent and the rest of London. Travelling was a nightmare due to engineering works in the rail and the fact they play in White Hart Lane so there is all the construction work going on at the Spurs ground nearby.

That's OK. It was a good attendance for the competition and you don't owe me any justification. I got my information from the Orient forum and had expected the match to sell out.

I’ve spent a fraught and annoying last evening and this morning arguing with Os fans on Twitter about Maidstone being a “tinpot” club due to someone’s grandad travelling without a ticket and being refused entry (as were some other Os and some Stones fans) and by a real clueless muppet who thinks he is John effing Motson. He comments on twitter 30 seconds after an incident of Stones being refused a penalty calling us cheats despite the fact he wasn’t even there. He then suggests hilariously that he had lots of people at the game calling him to tell him this (all in the 30 seconds between it being reported on the LOFC twitter feed and him commenting on it).
The first person, who is 15 (I can’t believe I was arguing with a kid but there you go) also suggested Orient fans should have had many more tickets (despite Os not actually completely selling out the 600) and that grounds with a capacity of less than 5000 should not be allowed in the conference.
I’ve spent the last hour arguing with his Mum and his bunch of mates on Twitter and I feel drained and depressed.
As I was working, I didn’t really see much of the game but can someone tell me if DSY dived a bit in the second half to try and get a penalty? Even Orients twitter feed suggest we were unlucky not to have one in the first half.

It was not a dive Val, Delano Sam-Yorke was wiped out, should have been a nailed on penalty. But there again, as you say, Orient could easily have been awarded one in the first half. The referee was shocking but no complaints over the scoreline

The referee was shocking but no complaints over the scoreline I haven't been so angered by a referee in a long time, which at this level is really saying something (which has made a Bananarama song pop into my head). The main consolation being his performance probably made not one iota of difference to the likelihood of our ending the game with no points.

Can't blame the ref for our lacklustre performance. Apart from the opening twenty minutes when we were OK, it was never going to happen yesterday. Would like to say it was just one of those days, but our home league form is quite worrying.

The Os fans fans were at the other end of the ground but this particular muppet (@gold931 on Twitter if anyone wants to see) swears “many” people phoned him to say it was a dive. He’s the biggest Billy Liar since...well, Billy Liar! We knew there were a fair few Os fans in the home end and a group at the town end whistled and said that was lucky when the ref gave nothing for DSY. Hes now on Twitter posting up shit about Maidstone and having a dig, while including me in the conversation, so idiotic is he that he doesn’t realise now I’ve blocked him and I can’t see it

At the risk of deja vu with nick (and providing I am looking at the right incident), I would say that it was not a dive nor was it a penalty. Delano had a swipe at the ball as the defender came in and missed it. To me it was just a clash as the two players competed for the ball.

But in the second half he was clearly pushed, it was, as they say, a nailed on pen (though I appreciate this is Christmas, not Easter).

Stating the bleedin' obvious - we have a problem with scoring goals (or rather, with NOT scoring them).
On goals scored we are 18th. But it's actually worse than that because we have only scored five more than the bottom side (Guiseley) - and 15 (FIFTEEN) less than the top scoring side (Bloody Bromley).
On goals conceded we do much better at 11th (despite our recent run) - one better than our actual league position.
Looking at who actually scores our goals, the stats are even more depressing.
Pigs is not doing badly, 12th highest NL scorer, with 8 goals, and Hines only just misses the top 20 with 6, but that's it. Apart from Wynter (3), no one else has got more than one goal - in 23 games.
Whatever we are doing up front (or in the middle?) clearly isn't working.

Just had a look at the second one. Doesn't look particularly nailed on and the one thing you can say is that the ref had a perfect in-line view of it. There is an arm in the ribs from the defender but DSY has his arm flailing up near the defender's head. It just looks like he goes down a bit too easily and the ref is thus unconvinced.

From my angle in the corner of the Town End (left side) it was nailed on, but it will be a while before I can bear to look at the highlights to confirm or retract my opinion...

With us complaining the ref didn't give us anything and Orient complaining our players weren't punished for diving, I thought it would be interesting to see what refs think. www.refchat.co.ukThen idea that all refs everywhere are rubbish or biased seems fanciful. Most are honest, with a love of the game. Otherwise why would they put up with the ridiculous levels of abuse? Their forum makes for fascinating reading.
